besides the ending being ridiculously cheerful with an annoying go get them attitude, and the over-whelming amount of crying done by Nya from guilt this book was actually pretty good. it was a quick fun read. I overall enjoyed the main character, Nya and the main side characters. i found them amusin...
It took me three books to make a decision on what it is about this series that doesn't work for me. While this third book has a lot more action and a lot more forward progress and doesn't have a repeating story line like the first two books did, it was still a mediocre to MEH read for me. In fact, t...
I'm not quite sure much happens in this book that didn't already happen in the first book. Evil people are doing evil things, there's a war raging, there are riots, the world is in shambles, and it's up to Nya to save the day... again. It bugs me a bit still that the people in this book are so black...
I seem to be in a minority here with my rating of this book. It teeters very much in the "MEH" category, but I have to admit that once the show got going, I found enough enjoyment in it to continue reading the rest of the series. At the very least, there's a sense of, "Hmm, what's next?" going o...
I really enjoyed this read about a girl who can take pain from someone and transfer it to someone else. She isn't supposed to be able to do this, healers in this world take pain and transfer it into a stone, which is very valuable and is getting rarer. Nya lives in a world where they're at war, th...
This concludes the story of the healer wars and this time Nya has to make some very hard decisions, including what happens when she finds her sister. It's a war and people Nya cares for die but she keeps fighting as best she can. I enjoyed this series and would read more by Janice Hardy, this one ...
I'm glad I got to finish this series! It's always great to see how an interesting start moves into a completed work. I really felt like Darkfall stretched the boundaries of the age bracket it was stuck in, not always in a good way. Aside from that I really loved it.
3 1/2 stars. It reminded me of Touch of Power and there were also things in it that reminded me of Star Crossed by Elizabeth Bunce, but this one more of a middle grade book.
The moral choices that the heroine has to make in these series have gotten more thorny and interesting. I liked this book better than the first one in the series. I'm still kind of confused as to how her powers and the powers of the Takers work, but that may be my fault and not the fault of the auth...
Definitely a great series, but I think it might be better for an older, more mature kid. It has some violent scenes, but I loved reading through it and the action started from the first page and didnt stop until the end. I will be adding the next books to be "to read" shelf.
