Joe Zhu is Professor of Operations in the School of Business, Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1998. He is an internationally recognized expert in methods of performance evaluation and benchmarking, and his research interests are in the areas of operations and business analytics, productivity modeling, and performance evaluation and benchmarking. He has published and co-edited several books focusing on performance evaluation and benchmarking using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and developed the DEAFrontier software. He has published over 100 articles in Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Operational Research Society, IIE Transactions, Sloan Management Review, Annals of Operations Research, OMEGA, Computers and Operations Research, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Banking and Finance, INFOR, Journal of Productivity Analysis, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Naval Research Logistics, Management Science, and others. He has published more than 10 books related to Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). He is a Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellow and a William Evans Visiting Fellow (University of Otago, New Zealand).
