John Gall, M.D., was educated at St. Johns College in Annapolis, Maryland, George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and Yale College. After receiving his medical training at George Washington University School of Medicine, he trained in Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1958 and is currently a member of the Senior Section of the Academy. During the 1960's, 70's, 80's and 90's, as part of his practice, he conducted weekly seminars in Parenting Strategies for parents, prospective parents, medical students, nursing students, and other health care practitioners. From 1975 through 1981 he was enrolled in the Huron Valley Institute as a trainee in modern therapy techniques under the supervision of Stan Woollams, MD, a pioneer in the field. Dr. Gall retired from private practice in 2001 after more than forty years of experience in behavioral and developmental problems of children. At the time of his retirement he was Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan. In addition to scientific papers, he is the author of The Systems Bible, a study of the problems and pitfalls of large systems; Elegant Parenting; Dancing with Elves; and First Queen, a historical novel on the life of the Eighteenth Dynasty Queen Hatshepsut of ancient Egypt. More recently, he has co-authored with his wife, Carol A. Gall, Hit By A Low-Flying Goose and Other Cautionary Tales. Notes From the Life and Practice of a Pediatrician and His Wife (2008).
