John Knapp II (1940 - ) began teaching (Peace Corps) in Liberia two months before President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and continued in the U.S. (with a PhD in sci. ed.) until retirement at SUNY-Oswego as a full prof in English. After writing science texts and editing, his book of poetry, A PILLAR OF PEPPER, won the first C.S. Lewis Gold Medal in 1983. His current sci-fo (think sci-fi) romance/adventure, EARTH IS NOT ALONE involves global tragedy, Christian responsibility, and life-and-death commitment after EMP mysteriously wipes out all electrical power and the presence of alien human life (similar DNA), created in the image of God, is suspected. If the Bible is silent about such things, how far can, and should, a Christian extend personal love? John and his wife live half-time in a "tower" cottage on a mountain lake in PA, the Earth setting of his novel, where he writes full-time.
