It's 1952, and the quiet seaside town of Kirkham is as uneventful as ever.

Unable to hold down a job, Rona’s only option is to help her father in the family bakery, under the watchful eye of Aunt Lizzie.

But all she really wants to do is to move to the big city and become a model. Edinburgh, Glasgow, London … anywhere more exciting than Kirkham. And more than that, she wants to fall in love.

The only solace she can find is in her childhood best friend Nancy, until one day Callum, the farmer's son, walks into the bakery. A firm friendship quickly forms, and Rona starts to spend much of her free time with him; going to the pictures, attending ceilidhs and taking walks along the sea front.

When her father reluctantly allows Rona to go to a holiday camp with Nancy, Rona meets the handsome Jake, who works in the entertainment business and rubs shoulders with the stars. Romance blossoms and he promises to help her achieve all she’s ever dreamt of … he can turn her into a model.

On returning to Kirkham, swept up in the excitement of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and Jake’s promises to help her, Callum falls to the back of Rona's mind. So when she hears rumours that he is planning to emigrate to Canada, she is surprised by the strength of her emotions.

Will Rona stick by her hopes that Jake can deliver her dreams, or will she realise that love was just around the corner?

'Just Around The Corner' is a spell-binding tale of love and dreams.
