Kel attended the screenwriting program at the American Film Institute, graduating in 1997.From 1997 to 2007 he ran producer Mace Neufeld's production company, overseeing the development of several film and television projects, including The General's Daughter, The Sum of All Fears, Sahara and Invictus. He produced the 2008 documentary, The Dungeon Masters, directed by Keven McAlester. He co-wrote, produced and directed the short documentary Excavating the 2000 Year Old Man, with Matthew Buzzell, which premiered on Turner Classic Movies in 2013. His screenplay, If They Move, Kill 'Em, about director Sam Peckinpah, landed on the Blacklist and The Hit List in 2012, which will be directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (American Horror Story, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Me, Earl and the Dying Girl). He has written scripts for Fox and Universal, and Disney. He also contributed to the video game based on HBO's Game of Thrones for Telltale Games, and created three comic books published by Image Comics: I Love Trouble, The Mercenary Sea, and the upcoming Reyn, which will be released in January 2015.And, after years of abstaining, he has started drinking coffee.
