You know stories that you can feel in your gut? Like when the emotions are running high, you're right there? And you really can't find a single thing wrong with said story? What an odd little story. Kim Dare takes a simple story and enhances it by changing the setting. She left me wanting to know more about the world she created outside of these characters. The M/m aspect is well written. As with most of the books in this genre, the ending is rushed.
This in many ways is a Cindefella like story. It's also a mild D/S tale. The story is about an "ugly little duck" who turns into a Swan, but that doesn't make a Happy Ever After ending in this tale.I enjoyed the concept. Its pacing lagged a bit here and there but overall a good story.
