I really like Lisa Shearin's fantasy series that begins with "Magic Lost, Trouble Found". It's taken me a bit longer to connect to this urban fantasy series set in New York, but I'm there, now. "The Brimstone Deception" has warmth, humour and a fast-pace. It's original and engaging, and peppered ...
Ok, now I'm starting to get a feel for the author's style. There is no navel-gazing. You're in the character's head as the story progresses, interacting with her environment and fellow cast members. That actually explains a lot. We're so used to the MC mentally discussing everything with herself (...
Somewhat less amusing than the novella introducing the world would lead you to believe. Not sure about a second Seer going by the name of Mac - thousands of names and you picked that one as a nickname? At least she's teamed with a human. Pondering a bit. It's a bit of MIB with a side order of errr...
Much better than book 4. I liked that more of Raine's family was in this one. I enjoyed the dynamic between everyone (now if all families were that loving and supportive of each other). I liked that, despite everything, those that know Raine, know she would never do anything that would hurt them....
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com. I found Lisa Shearin and the SPI Files series in the Night Shift Anthology that I reviewed late last year. I instantly fell in love with Mackenna Frazier and the team at SPI. I found that I really enjoyed the world of ...
One of the better anthologies I've read. Most are at least entertaining. Tale the first - Nalini Singh's contribution. H has discovered his mate's scent, but he can't find her UNTIL... he takes an elderly shifter home and meets a young woman she's befriended. The h - orphaned as a tot - has been b...
I am so far behind in reviews, and I actually forgot to shelve this book at all, but I suspect others overlook it for similar reasons to me: Primarily, the cover. It totally looks like a YA book, or perhaps even an MG one, but it's actually not. It's also probably not going to shatter your world ...
Secrets at Midnight by Nalini Singh This is a classic romance from the Psy/Changeling world of Nalini Singh. Which has both good and bad points. On the good side we have a lot of racial diversity, the fascinating world playing a backdrop, some pretty awesome side characters and a romance that was ...
