Scottoline's style was easy. I thought the book was a bit slow, but I was proven wrong as I continued reading. Good characters and good background plot, when added to "good style," make for a winner.
This could have been very sappy, but Scottoline knows how to tell a good story with compelling characters and very little schmaltz. She also knows how to crank up the tension when needed (which is through the entire middle of this book) while keeping the reader guessing. There's also a touch of roma...
