Born in Cairo, Egypt, I came to Britain during winter and saw my first view of snow! My English Dad fell in love with my beautiful Greek Mum in Athens during the war and wrote her a forty page love-letter when fighting in the desert so I guess writing is in my genes! I wrote my first novel in an exercise-book at sixteen and many others after that but then gave up writing for a long time. Now retired and living in Malvern, the muse has returned. I've since written and published The Long Shadow which is set in WW1 Greece, The Crimson Bed with a background of Pre Raphaelite, London, and Middle Watch set amongs the coasts and lighthouses of England. If you like novels with depth, passion and drama, these stories are for you.People have asked for a sequel to The Long Shadow. Thus Dying Phoenix was born. It is now available as a paperback and in Kindle form. Dying Phoenix follows on from the story of Andrew Cassimatis and his family and takes place in 1966-67 when the military took over the country and held it in an iron grip for seven years.I was asked in 2013 to give a talk on The Long Shadow at the American College in Thessaloniki. It was a delightful and unique experience and I've made some wonderful friendships there. This led to my being signed up by Oceanida.gr and The Long Shadow will be available in Greek in 2014. I also have a chapter 'Between Two Cultures: an Anglo Greek Identity crisis' which you will find in a very interesting book released on Greece by the Cambridge Scholars. It is called 'Greece and Britain since 1945' edited by Dr David Wills. ISBN: 978-1-4438-1962-6 obtainable on Amazon.com It is now out in a paperback second edition with new updated chapters and photos added. It's an informative book and very useful for scholars as well as Graecophiles everywhere.. The Crimson Bed, by Loretta Proctor, is a tale of romance and family life set around the fringes of the pre-Raphaelite artistic movement in England in the mid nineteenth century. As such, historical figures such as Rosetti, Ruskin and Millais hover in the background, while the book's focus is on tho...

Dying Phoenix, by Loretta Proctor, opened a window for me on a slice of modern history I knew almost nothing about - Greece, in the months surrounding the generals' coup of 1967. In recent months, Greece has once again been forefront in international news, and although the main issues today are econ...
