It was slow going at first but once I reached the middle of the book my interest picked up.

This book was a joy to read. You get to know the characters on an intimate level. Some are more likeable than others, but all are rich and fully developed. Most will endear themselves to you.Major Pettigrew is a gentleman above all else. Perhaps he is formal to a fault. At first he seems stodgy and ...

I really liked this book. Yes, the characters are caricatures, with exaggerated faults. Yes, the Major comes across as a bit of a stick-in-the-mud. But that all adds to the comedy of manners. It's not really about racism or xenophobia but about the capacity to balance restraint and flexibility, tradition and innovation. The audiobook may have been better than the print version. The reader con...

Buy, Borrow, or Avoid?: Definitely absolutely buy -- and borrow if you can't!Review: I just loved this book. Straight out loved it. The story is seemingly simple -- widower meets widow, develop late in life romance, obstacles get in the way -- but the engaging writing and endearing characters turn...
