Michael Krepon is the co-founder of the Henry L. Stimson Center, a Washington-based think tank that focuses on international security. He also teaches at the University of Virginia. His areas of expertise are nuclear arms control, South Asia, and space security. Krepon previously worked on nuclear arms control for President Jimmy Carter. He has also worked for four years as on Capitol Hill, handling armed services and defense appropriations matters. Immediately prior to co-founding the Stimson Center, Krepon worked for six years at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He has written approximately 400 articles and has been published in Foreign Affairs, The Washington Post, The New York Times and Foreign Policy magazine. He appears on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, CNN, the BBC, and other television media outlets. He is the author or editor of thirteen books. His newest book, Better Safe than Sorry, The Ironies of Living with the Bomb, was published by Stanford University Press in 2009. He attended Franklin and Marshall College and The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
