Michiel Baas (1975) is currently a research fellow with the Asia Research Institute (National University of Singapore). He was awarded a PhD in anthropology from the University of Amsterdam in 2009. His work centers on questions of migration, transnationalism and (social/cultural) mobilities. He has conducted fieldwork in various Indian cities (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Patna) as well as in Melbourne (Australia) and Singapore.
