Miriam L. Wallace holds a PhD in Literature from University of California, Santa Cruz; her BA is from Swarthmore College. She teaches British literature at New College of Florida where she has been a member of the faculty since 1995. In addition to her scholarly work on the late eighteenth-century and Romantic British novel, Professor Wallace is interested criminal trials of the period (riots, mutinies, sedition, treason), and popular fora for public political speech such as spouting clubs and debating societies. She has a personal interest in companion birds, and lives with three parrots--two conures and an indian ringneck.
