This book had it's moments...At some parts I wanted to give it 5*, at others I would have gone with 2... In the end it was very nice. The entire series seems interesting. Quote:"Did you think I wasn't attending?"It was a small, crooked smile, and it made her heart go a little crooked, too, and beat ...

I loved this book. Finished re reading it last night and remembered why I adore her writing so much. Clever, witty prose and a simply fabulous hero.

This was a sweet romance. Loretta Chase did a wonderful job of crafting an interesting story without unnecessary melodrama, and the characters were both interesting and well-drawn.

My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book...Well, 1st 5 chps were just BORING! Don't knw how I got through them. Even Alastair's limp (from the war) couldn't make me keep my eyes open so I kinda skipped. Didn't particularly cherished reading the list of Alas...

Maybe not quite as good as Lord of Scoundrels, but pretty close. The best parts of the book (and they are amazingly good) are the scenes with just the hero and heroine in them - totally delicious! The descriptions of the countryside in Derbyshire and the village of Matlock Bath were excellent, and t...
