I finally got around to reading the incredible Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder as recommended by my friend Sarah, and I can’t figure out why it took me so long to get to reading this! I guess sometimes I have to be in the mood for non-fiction but I don’t think I ever could have fully prep...

With a 4 star rating you know that I liked this book very much. In my head however there's a bit of tumult with regard to it.First, the author does an impressive job concentrating years of research into such a cohesive text. Taking such a complex character as Dr. Farmer and managing to neither demon...

I've been saving this until I really needed a book this good. I'm glad I did. Kidder's take on Farmer's work and philosophy is energizing, enraging, and engaging. I wish I could have kept reading it forever.

Contact with the work and the ideas of Dr. Paul Farmer has changed my life. I see now as blindingly obvious something I never realized before, that the poor and powerless among us deserve the very best care of anyone. That healthcare, and by extension clean water, nutritious food, a decent place to...

The classic book that everyone who comes to Haiti recommends, this tells the story of Paul Farmer and his work as a doctor to the poor, in Haiti and elsewhere.

Dr. Paul Farmer is many things, world expert on AIDS and Tuberculosis, patient-care physician extraordinaire, founder of a ground-breaking health care facility in Haiti, consultant to Anti-TB programs in Peru and Russia, author of several books and countless articles, husband, father, and, maybe, sa...
