Set at the head of the South Wales Valleys in the late eighties it is about a young police sergeant’s change of life style when he is forced to move from the city due to an unfortunate but innocent indiscretion. He tries to leave it all behind but his past catches up with him in the form of a violent drug dealer and soon he suspects his colleagues of collusion; he is left pondering why he has been posted there. He had also become interested in the mysterious disappearance of a man some eight years earlier and although it takes time tie the lose ends together it’s further complicated by his developing relationship with the man’s wife. As in real life things take their time to evolve though the ending is relatively quick as all the pieces fall into place; in the interim he has to deal with all the run of the mill policing matters which cross his path whilst adapting to his new surrounding and it is these which give an in sight to his character. The story has not the happiest of endings for some but that is how life is, there are always winner and losers, he just hopes he makes outcome the best possible for all involved even if it means keeping some secrets from the new love in this life in order to protect her dead husbands character.
