I had doubts starting this one, because it starts off slow. Really slow. Like, omg, this book is never, ever going to end. This was largely due to the history dump Peters gives the reader in the beginning; the boring-to-me kind of history about battles and wars and political shenanigans. Then...

I know that I previously mentioned that I had signed up for scribd. One of the big reasons that I decided to take the plunge and pay the $8.99 per month for the subscription was that the entire Brother Cadfael series was available. I read the first book, A Morbid Taste for Bones, years ago when I...

I loved the initial scenario: hiding a murder victim among the corpses of 94 executed men, but the characters and their motivations fell flat for me (hence only three stars).

The Second Cadfael book and quite an interesting mystery. With the war between King Stephen and Empress Matilda ongoing there was a slaughter of some prisoners and Cadfael is called to minister to 94 corpses but finds 95 which leads Cadfael on a quest that gets more complicated as the story proceed...

This was wonderful. I was thinking all through it that I would be giving it four stars because I really have to save the very best books for five star class winners, but then came the end which I adored. So yep, another five star book. This is as good as The Leper of Saint Giles, and that I gave fiv...

3.75, but let's round it to four stars! Not as impressive as the first novel in the series (which I highly recommend) this second adventure of brother Cadfael is still a great read. The story happens mostly outdoors, in the area surrounding the abbey, which allows the reader to familiarize themselves...
