This was the book club selection for the group that I was hosting last night, so yesterday I decided that I better give it a quick read rather than depend upon my memory of the movie for discussion. As most of you probably already know, it is a unique blend of British wit and rambling adventures. I ...

I seen this book around a lot, but I had never taken the time to read it or even find out what it was really about. Really it's told kind of like a nonsense story, but it's very entertaining and full of philosophical bits. I enjoyed it very much. It sort of makes light of the whole idea of existe...

A nice quick re-read of this one that I have not read since the 1980's. I think I am somewhat biased since seeing the movie of this several times and waiting for things to happen like in the film. 3.5 Stars for a fun read.

If I'm not really careful, this will be the longest thing I ever post here. Let's see how much restraint I have, shall we? I think I read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for the first time in 1987 (maybe 1988), and have read it countless times since then. I quote it all the time (frequently u...

Ridiculous, fun, and decidedly tongue-in-cheek. I'm only surprised it took me this long to check it out! Now I'll have to check out the others. Favourite passage: "Hey, they're shooting at us," said Arthur, crouching in a tight ball. "I thought they said they didn't want to do that.""Yeah, I tho...

This book is probably not for everyone: it hasn't got any deep thoughts and doesn't give you more stuff to think about. Sounds like a book I wouldn't enjoy, but I actually did: I like the sense of humour and well, I never really say no to a cute alien story.

It took a bit for me to get into it, but I enjoyed the book. It had just the right amount of comedy and sarcasm mixed with action and adventure. I didn't like the film the first time I watched it, in fact I didn't even make it through the whole movie. Eventually (many years later) I tried watch...
