It packed quite a punch. Good writing, depressing story. But also hope and HEA, so it ends on a positive note.

First several paragraphs drew me in like a fly in a spider's web. It took time to find out why the prisoner was incarcerated. Reading through all his pain and fear really got me attached to him.
