Robert T. Wood grew up in Northern California. After a stint in the US Navy during the early/mid 1960's he settled in Honolulu, Hawaii, then later relocated to Tokyo, Japan. He is proficient in the Japanese language and taught Japanese as a hobby for many years. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and a Master of Arts in East Asian Languages and Literature, specializing in Teaching Japanese as a Second Language, from the University of Hawaii. Mr. Wood has essentially spent his whole adult life studying Japanese language, history, and culture.His professional background is law enforcement. He has a degree in Criminal Justice (Police Science) and 36 years of experience. After 16 years in one of the largest police departments in the US, he spent 20 years as a foreign counterintelligence agent for a US federal law enforcement agency. After retiring from law enforcement he was immediately hired by a global corporation as the overseas director for corporate security for the Far East region.
