I liked reading about something other than a predatory shape shifter. It was interesting to see how the aspects of the horse's instincts influenced Ri, and I was very glad to see that while fighting is not his first response he isn't incapable of standing up for himself, and those he loves.
2.5 stars. Ok paranormal m/m romance about a college student who's rescued from some bad guys by a strange black horse, then left at an old man's farm, with his rescue seeming more like a dream... Besides a major plot hole (what, wolf shifters can't read, only sniff?), this seemed to drag a bit.
3.5-4*I enjoyed Ri, I liked that he was a horse shifter, something you don't read about much, if at all.And Ri had a lot of horse characteristics while he was human, which added to the story, because lots of shifter stories have them acting totally human when not in shifted form and this one showed ...
The last Shifter book from Joely Skye that I read was Wolf Town back in 2010 and I didn't like it. So I decided not to continue that series.
