The second book in the Abandoned at the Altar series, Scandal of the Year lets us follow the tale of my two favorite people from the first book, Julia and Aiden. I didn't really like the first book all that much, but was still excited to read this. The two characters were already interesting and I w...

The hero of the story is a fine man, but the heroine - she's supposed to be tortured and troubled. Since reading Wedding of the Season, I’ve been looking forward to the story of Aidan -- a priggish duke who gets tiddly much too easily has a lot of entertaining potential. But although those factors do play into the plot, this didn’t turn out to be the “bad girl makes the good boy loosen up” theme ...

With this book Laura Lee Guhrke goes a little deeper into the psyche and pain of her characters than she has in her previous books, and it’s worth it. There were times in this book I felt LLG had painted herself into a corner and I would never truly like the heroine (she broke one of my romance “do...

Scandal of the Year is a sequel of sorts to Wedding of the Season, and in it, the man jilted in the previous book, Aidan Carr, the Duke of Thathen, finally finds his Duchess, but only after yet another broken engagement. While his first engagement was broken once he found Lady Beatrix Danbury in the...
