Genre: Historical Romance Year Published: 2012 Number of Pages: 287 pages Date Read: 1/10/2016 Series: Scarlet #1 Publisher: Walker & Company You know what? I never would have thought that I would find an alternative story to the popular “Robin Hood” tale. I mean, I have seen ma...

I try not to judge a book until I’ve reread it (or until I find myself incapable of rereading it). To me, the first read-through simply isn’t sufficient to really get the feel for a book and a writer. The first time through I allow myself to be dazzled by the writing and get swept along by the ideas...

The first thing that came to mind as soon as I figured out this was about Robin Hood's band was the Robin Hood song that the italian cartoon singer Cristina D'avena sang, here's the link if you'd like to listen to it, it's really adorable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVdXxxXMcxY. This review can also be found on my blog. I was very surprised on how the plot was very character driven. It was something new for me to read. To me, I felt like there wasn’t much of a plot during the majority of the novel, however, it was still worth reading cause I loved the characters. The writin...

This is an alternate retelling of Robin Hood, where Will Scarlet is a hemorrhoidal pain in the ass who talks like a Monty Python and the Holy Grail cast reject who gets involved in a horrifyingly painful love triangle WITH ROBIN HOOD AND LITTLE JOHN. There are two facts about Will Scarlet that you ...

After having so many great reviews from bloggers I trust I knew I had to get this retelling of Robin Hood told from the female perspective. Knowing that Scarlet was Will Scarlet reborn from the ashes of Marian made me more intrigued. I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed this retelling where a fe...

After Robin Hood caught her trying to steal from him, he blackmailed Scarlet (known to the legends as Will Scarlet) into working for his cause against the rapacious Sheriff of Nottingham. With her help, he, Much, and John Little are able to keep the peasants alive. But then the Sheriff starts taki...

Well that was disappointing. So much potential overshadowed by generic love-triangle drama. It could have been great if the romance was cut and the plot amped up, with more focus on each character's backstory and their (non-romantic) relationships with each other in the "band."

First let me just say that I am a huge fan of the Robin Hood Legend. As a kid I watched the Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman movie about 15 times more then most people would call healthy. So when I saw there was a book out that had a twist on the same old story – Will Scarlet is a girl in disguise!!! ...
