I was excited to read Shadow and Bone because the story seemed to have some Russian elements, and I love just about anything Russian. While the story does not take place in Russia, but in a fictional world, it does have prominent Russian cultural elements, which I enjoyed. The folklore seems to be...

The original review can be found on my blog:You know what, I've been working on this damn review for 2 freaking days and I'm tired! With that being said prepare yourself for babbling, ranting, swooning, cursing and Bardugo drinking my tears. I would say sorry but:For the past few weeks all my lovely...

I’ve always been on the lookout for unique fantasy. Fantasy that takes me to truly new worlds, with new creatures and powers. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo met that wish wonderfully! Between the Russian-inspired setting, the terrifying nature of The Shadow Fold and the intriguing power Alina sudd...

4 STARS (like duh)Glorious. Epic. Irresistible. Romance. Those are pretty big words. For a debut novel, it's almost asking for some hurt. Especially since when I read that in the blurb I kept thinking of Gwen Stefani: Love. Angel. Music. Baby.So did it deliver?Well, for the most part anyway."There's ...

I enjoyed Shadow & Bone, but aside from the Russian influences, I didn't think it was original as many other readers seem to think. While it was entertaining, I found it followed a pretty standard fantasy plot. Great characters though.

The first 50 percent of this book was iffy for me. Like three star iffy, with the potential to be way lower. Why? To be blunt, if there is anything I cannot STAND it's a cringing, whiny, "woe is powerful me" female character. Really, you have more power than God himself and you're afraid to even...

I'm gonna start this review like how I start most of my other reviews: I got this book as a recommendation. It's not that I dislike recommendations, it's just that I like reading books that none of my friends or acquaintances have ever read, but it's rarely that I get that luxury. The good thing is,...

Absolutely loved! I loved how conflicted Alina was about everything, like her feelings about her powers and her feelings about Mal. I loved the ending, how it felt like an ending, but still left a lot to be resolved in the next books. I cannot WAIT for the next book.
