{Feb 10th 2014} UPDATE retrying attempt to write this, but too frustrated to bother at the moment unfortunately, since GR made my almost finished review disappear again, will attempt to write this review tomorrow most likely.[Katie's] heart pulsed like the earthquake, like the turbluence on the plan...

This fell a little flat for me, as an introduction. I felt like the writer was trying a little too hard to create a distressing, depressing environment for Katie's feelings to anchor to but it just didn't work in the end. Even the use of various Japanese words and phrases sprinkles throughout the st...

My issue with this prequel was the huge amount of Japanese culture and vocabulary that is just thrown at you non-stop. We get to see the moments that pushed her to staying with her aunt in Japan and we get to see the beginning stages of her attempting to start her life over in a foreign country. As ...

Also posted on Sab The Book Eater!I read Shadow after Ink and I think that greatly influenced my view of the prequel. Personally, I find it hard to review a prequel when I've read the first book in the series before it. I feel like I already know a lot or even just enough about the characters and th...

That was an interesting prequel, I am not totally sure I am going to read the first book. While the concept was nice, it didn't pull me in. I liked Katie's perspective but I didn't like Tomohiro's.
