Dr. Shawn Apostel is an Assistant Professor of Communication and Instructional Technology Specialist at Bellarmine University where he provides support to faculty and IT to facilitate online and classroom instruction that incorporates technology. He also teaches courses in Multimedia Communication and Technical Writing. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Communication Coordinator for the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity at Eastern Kentucky University.An award winning writer, photographer, presenter, and Prezi designer, Dr. Apostel brings the passion for his professional work to the classroom as an instructor. He studied Graphic Design Technology at Miami Dade College and earned a B.A. in Journalism from Toccoa Falls College, an M.A. in Professional Communication from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Technical Communication from Michigan Technological University. Dr. Apostel's research interests include teaching with technology, play and creativity, digital ethos, e-waste reduction, and visual communication. He is co-chair of the Visual Rhetoric Panel for the South Atlantic Modern Language Association and serves as a reviewer for various journals and conferences. His work is published by IGI Global, CCDigital Press, Lexington Books, New Forums Press, Kairos: A Journal of Rhetoric, Technology, and Pedagogy, and Computers and Composition Online. He co-edited Online Credibility and Digital Ethos: Evaluating Computer-Mediated Communication and co-authored Teaching Creative Thinking: A New Pedagogy for the 21st Century.
