I read this one as a kid and remember it scaring the crap out of me. The illustrated Mr. Dark freaked me out big time. A Bradbury classic, dark, dripping with atmosphere, coming of age, sinister, carnival tale. Excellent. This one is like a fine wine that just keeps getting better with age.

DNF at page 136.I couldn't do it. I'm over halfway through and was just draaaaagging myself into it every evenings this week. I felt like I was back in college reading a book I had absolutely no interest in finishing. I can't even really say anything bad about the writing - hence the 2 star rating e...

Why is it that I always forget how poetic a writer Ray Bradbury is? Ten I read him again, and it is like oh man, that is some lovely language right there. If you are frightened of clowns, you should most likely skip this book. While not the same type of horror as Pennywise in King’...

Years ago I saw a film Something Wicked this Way Comes and it was instantly forgettable but I was always seeing that title as an important book so I have decided to tackle it. Well about 10 pages and I thought okay well written whoop-de-do. Then slowly this veil started to fall down upon me and I st...

I am approx 50 pages into this book (which is about 25% of the book) and am still having a difficult time getting into it. I hope it gets more interesting.

I hadn't read Something Wicked since I was a kid, and I was delighted to find it's just as creepy and mind-meltingy as I remember. Bradbury has such an intoxicating way with descriptions. I think my favorite from this particular tome is "His voice... it's the same color as his hair." Brilliant.

This review is for this particular version of the audiobook, the one narrated by Christian Rummel. There's several versions. I will say that this is the best version there is. Stefan Rudnicki's version is terrible, and Kevin Foley's version is only slightly better than boring. Rummel does the best j...

Time for a Halloween read. And also to keep me busy until AHS: Freak Show begins.

I don't give Ray Bradbury's "Something Wicked This Way Comes" praise lightly. This was a book I first read many years ago in junior high, back when I used to take some of my lunch breaks and spend reading in the library. The librarian never bothered me, and I read as many books as I could fit into...

“Beware the autumn people. … For some, autumn comes early, stays late, through life … with no winter, spring or revivifying summer. For these beings, fall is the only normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond. Where do they come from? The dust. Where do they go? The grave. Does bloo...
