As a series it gets a four star. Yes, I bashed the hell out of Mercenaries: Part II and Mercenaries: Part I and Veterans slid by with a mediocre three stars, but Soldiers is a prize. A great, very emotional series. I'm glad I didn't stop reading after the cruel and violent beginning (I did put the book away for a couple of days, but thanks to all the positive reviews, picked it up again). Lots of time spent in tears, but also (especially during the later books) grinning happily....
