Swami Veda Bharati, is a poet, scholar, research guide, international speaker, and writer. He holds Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of London and a Doctor of Literature degree from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands. In 1969, he met his Spiritual Master, Swami Rama of the Himalayas, while a professor of Sanskrit and Indian religions at the University of Minnesota. He has studied and is well-versed in the scriptures of many religions, understands seventeen languages with varying degrees of fluency, which allows him to teach meditation to people of different faiths - Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs. Swami Veda has guided and taught in all continents and 23 countries; his main seats are two ashrams, spiritual centers, on the banks of the river Ganges in the foothills of the Himalayas, and the Meditation Center in Minneapolis. Before taking his vows of Swamihood in 1992, he was known as Dr. Usharbudh Arya. A prolific writer and speaker, he is the author of numerous books, including Superconscious Meditation, Mantra and Meditation, Meditation and the Art of Dying, Philosophy of Hatha Yoga, God, Yoga-sutras of Patanjali, Light of Ten Thousand Suns, and Subtler than the Subtle.
