Myron is playing basketball again
Fade Away - Harlan Coben

Gregg has disappeared. Myron is hired to find him by signing to the basketball team as his replacement.

But he hasn't played professionally for a decade. He really couldn't keep up.

Jessica is back to his life and asked him to move in.

The case involved also a murder, blackmail and secret linking back to Myron.

All in all a good one. So Win is in this too. But he is more on the sideline. Everyone is trying to find Gregg and he is not to be found. In the meatime, Emily, Gregg soon to be ex-wife and Myron's ex-girlfriend also got involved. She has secrets too.

As a mystery, murder story. This is pretty good. The plot twist is fun to read.

Another 4.5 stars read.

TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Fade In (Tales of Bryant Novellas #1) by V.L. Locey
Fade In (Tales of Bryant Novellas #1) - V.L. Locey

@SignalBoostPR, @debbiereadsbook, @vllocey, #Contemporary, #MM, #Romance, 4 out of 5 (very good)

Will Devon and Caiden discover that their new love is a wrap after the filming ends?

Weddings, champagne, and slow dancing. It’s a lethal combination and one that has led film student Devon Maxwell into one awkward predicament. Brought in at the last minute to help his friends Isamu and Brian during their Bryant Park wedding, Devon was not prepared for Caiden Dell to sweep into his life. The spark of attraction between him and the hip film executive was instantaneous. That spark led them right into Caiden’s big bed for a night of pleasure that Devon will never be able to duplicate no matter how many takes life gives him.

To make things even more complicated, Caiden offers the recently vacated job of office intern to him. He’d be a fool to turn down an offer to work at Budgie in the Dell, the hottest LGBT film production company in the Big Apple. Looks as if Devon’s hopes of working in film are about to come true. He’s ready for days filled with tiring shoots, long hours, and irate actors. He just never dreamed his nights would overflow with passion, laughter, and whispers shared with a gorgeous, older lover.

Have you ever wandered through a park...
Fade In (Tales of Bryant Novellas #1) - V.L. Locey

or maybe some public gardens and wondered about the people you see there…Who are they? Where do they come from? Where are they going to? Why are they there? So many questions. In ‘Tales of Bryant’ Ms Locey creates stories that could easily play out in such a place…a place that really could be anywhere even around the corner from where you or I live, but in this case the park happens to be in New York, and it’s called Bryant Park.

Bryant Park is the thread that joins each story to the next. In the first book Bryant park was where Isamu and Brian’s story began. Then in book #2 we again returned to Bryant Park to as these two men became husband and husband but just as one story was getting it’s happily ever after another one was beginning.

It was during Isamu and Brian’s wedding that Caiden and Devon first meet and their attraction is something that neither man wants to ignore and what starts off as a one night stand quickly becomes something much stronger and far more than either of these men are prepared for.

Caiden and Devon are two very different men, at very different places in their lives. Caiden is a successful producer of LGBT movies. His career is established, he’s got the connections, professionally he’s proven himself.  He’s had relationships and even he’s cautious because he knows he’s quick to fall in love and he wants to give Devon everything…except the one thing that Devon wants the most.

Devon’s a film student and after being thrown out of his home for being gay, he’s also determined to show his father that he can make it on his own. He’s working a minimum wage job at a bakery to try and make ends meet, he’s got classes and when he gets offered the intern position at Budgie in the Dell studios…he’s not crazy of course he jumps at the opportunity…really, what’s a few less hours of sleep?

While the age disparity between these two men isn’t a favorite of mine just as it wasn’t with Brian and Isamu, somehow it all seems to work. In both cases the men all bring something unique to the table helping to keep things balanced and to offset the difference not so much in regards to the age difference but in regard to the power dynamic of an older, career established person with considerably more life and career experience vs someone whose career hasn’t really started and whose life experience is much more limited and yet in both cases the author has made this dynamic work for me.  For me the fact that both of the younger men have the strength of character to stand up for what they want and who they are, even when they’re afraid it could cost them what matters to them the most is definitely a large contributor towards making these relationships work.

Along with Isamu and Brian who have returned from their honeymoon the story offers us a peek at Adrian, whom we met in ‘Nine Small Sips’ and we are also introduced to Luis, Caiden’s cook and housekeeper and one adorably colorful personality. I’ve got my fingers crossed that future stories will see both of these men paying a visit to Bryant Park to see what destiny has in store for each of them.

The ‘Tales of Bryant’ each provide a story that feels complete in both content and emotion as well as offering a connection to more and I’m definitely looking forward to more.

As Shadows Fade by Colleen Gleason
As Shadows Fade - Colleen Gleason

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I ended up liking this book quite a lot. I have really had a great time with this vampire hunter series set in the Regency period and I was eager to see how everything would wrap up in this final installment. I had some ideas about where things might go in this book and I wasn't completely wrong but there were more than a few surprises worked in along the way as well. I am pretty satisfied with how everything came to an end.

Demons are making their way into the world. Demons are a danger not only to humans but vampires also have a lot to lose with their increased presence. Demons are hard to fight and even harder to overcome. There are a few special items that could help in defeating this enemy but in order to use them, Victoria and the other vampire hunters must enlist the help of one of their greatest enemies, Lilith, the vampire queen. I couldn't wait to see how things would finally wrap up with this master vampire and seeing the members of the group working with her was intense. She has had such a unique hold over Max throughout the series and I knew that things would get exciting when the vampire hunters were finally able to deal with her.

The characters in this series are really well done. The group of vampire hunters were on the road for much of this book so there were not quite so many characters throughout the book as some of the other books. Victoria has become such a strong leader and is willing to sacrifice if that is what is required of her. I do like the fact that she does still want things for herself and actively works to make those things happen. Max has been through a lot over the course of the story and he takes on another huge obstacle in this installment. He has proven that he will do whatever it takes to help make the world a safer place. Sebastian has also changed throughout the series. He isn't as afraid to show how much he cares and actively pursues what he wants in this installment. He is also a very brave man that can be very honorable when given the opportunity.

My one complaint about this book was the love triangle that took center stage at the start of the book. I really wish that this element to the story would have just been left out. One love interest was more than enough in my opinion. The love triangle was really set up in the previous installment in the series but this was where things were really dealt with. Victoria knows what she wants and doesn't waver in that decision which I really appreciated. I was pretty sure how the romantic element of the story would pan out before I ever started reading this book and I was right for the most part. The way that story worked out in the end made the whole triangle make a lot more sense to me and I was really satisfied with how everything turned out.

I would recommend this series to others. This is the fifth and final installment in a series that really does have to be read in order since each book builds on the last. I have had such a great time watching this group of characters change and learn to work as a team to make the world a safer place. I definitely plan to read more from Gleason very soon.

Initial Thoughts
I ended up liking this one. At the start of the book, I was a bit disappointed that the focus seemed to be almost entirely on Victoria's romantic life. I would have been happy to just leave the whole love triangle thing out of this series. The book did get back to the vampire hunting action I wanted to see and there were a few surprising revelations. All in all this was an exiting story.
