Review: The Berenstain Bears Bless Our Pets
The Berenstain Bears Bless Our Pets (Berenstain Bears/Living Lights) - Mike Berenstain

You know the best series out there that good for children is The Berenstain Bears. It teaches about things children need and still really good. It one of my favorite series. I regret getting rid of my books i had growing up. The one I have now i will not give them away. I am over the children section but I love reading children books. These books i will never grow out of or want to.

The Berenstain Bears Bless our pets is really is a new one. It deal with or what our children need in moral teachings in the real world. It teaches us that animals or our pets are more family rather than just plan animals. They should be treated like any other family member. I know I treat my pets like they are family and talk to them like their my babies.

Children will learn that they need to take care of pets and what it like and treat them like other family members to a point. Mike Berenstain does a really well job with it and with the pictures. The picture can tell the story.

Book Tour: Halley's Casino: The Adventures of Nebula Yorker
Halley's Casino: The Adventures of Nebula Yorker - Mark J.G. Fahey

Halley’s Casino is a good action and adventure book. It got some historical fiction with science fiction with the time travel. I liked it. It kept you guessing and entertained. I loved the fact that you get to time travel by going back though earth history.

The author does a wonderful job. I like that Nebula Yorker is the problem solver. Is Halley a Comet or is it an Intergalactic Casino? We see what Rome looks like at 12 BCE? Who is Nebula Parents? You find all kinds of surprises and twists along the way. I enjoyed the plot.

Will Neb save earth or will not? It adventures of a lifetime. Find out by reading. This book has a few stories and adventures waiting from beginning to end. Is the world as we see it or his it something we never imagined?

Have you ever wondered what would happen if an angel, a demon and a witch became friends...
Familiar Angel - Christopher Lane

It's been a hundred and forty years since Harry, Edward and Francis found themselves in the wrong place at what turned out to be the right time for them.

Life in a brothel was neither safe nor good for the three boys and Harry and Edward were determined to keep Francis safe from the darker side of brothel life. When things became too dangerous Harry and Edward knew that the only way to keep Francis safe was to flee. Trapped in a grove and hiding among some bushes the boys are witness to a meeting of supernatural beings...an angel, a witch and a demon and his protege. As events unfold what the boys come to think might be their undoing turns out to be their salvation and they are swept away to begin a life that none of them had ever dared to hope they would be a part of.

This was also the first time that Harry would meet the angel, Suriel. Over the next 140 years as the boys learn magic and what it's like to truly have a family and they come to find what they believe to be their purpose in the world...to save those who have been enslaved.

Throughout the intervening years Suriel remains a part of their lives and slowly he and Harry develop their own special bond and for the most part 'Familiar Angel' is their story, but it's also a lot more than that because there's so much more to this story than just a love story between Suriel and Harry. There's a lot of background in this story for all of the characters  this story covers the beginnings as a family for Harry, Edward, Francis, Emma (the witch), Leonard (the demon & Emma's lover) and  Bel (Emma & Leonard's son). As well we are given Suriel's background and a glimpse of Mullins (Leonard's protege).

My only real reservation with this one was that I truly would have liked more and not just because I was enjoying the story and...well, I am greedy that way...no this time I actually have a valid reason and it's because was well as being Harry and Suriel's story 'Familiar Angel' is also giving the background for this story and laying the groundwork for future stories and this is a story that feels like it's big and it just needs a little more than some other stories might need. I'm not talking about hundreds of pages here I just feel like a little more background and groundwork for future stories would have been nice and I acknowledge it could be that I'll get it in future stories and maybe, I'm just being a bit impatient since I have to admit that while I wanted more I also wasn't left feeling like I was missing anything...so maybe, I was just being greedy but you know angels, witches, demons...can you blame me?

'Familiar Angel' delivers a story that while based on a concept that we're all familiar with (no pun intended) that of a witches and their familiars, it delivers the relationship from a fresh perspective and in a new way.

I loved the sense of family that grounds this story and while Suriel and Harry are the MCs in this story there's also a stronger sense of an ensemble cast contained within. While the story jumps back and forth between the past and the present it's well done and I didn't have a problem with following events and where they belonged on the timeline and as always Ms Lane has created not just one or two characters who caught my attention and left me wanting more along with the characters mentioned there was a trio that we got a glimpse of Tucker, Josh and Angel and would I love to know their story...oh, hell yeah! these guys totally piqued my curiosity and would I love a book about them...even a long story...well of course...please and thank  you.

I was enchanted with this one and have my fingers crossed that the wait for Edward and Francis's stories aren't too far away.

Halloween Carnival Volume 1
Halloween Carnival Volume 1 - Lisa Morton,Kevin Lucia,John Little,Brian James Freeman,Robert R. McCammon

*Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.*
A new series of Halloween short story collections from old and new authors alike. When I saw Robert McCammons name in the writer list, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. 'Strange Candy' is a stellar effort and manages to be both touching and a little creepy at the same time.
My favourite story was 'The Rage of Achilles', I haven't read Kevin Lucia before but was very impressed with his writing style. A grief stricken father attends the church of Father Ward to confess a crime he has not yet committed and tells of how he lost his family. This story was truly heart wrenching and really pulled you in emotionally. The stand out of the collection.
'Demon Air' was disappointing, it seemed like it was going to be a gory fun read but it fizzled out halfway through. Having heard such great things about the author I'm surprised at the quality of the story.
The next story was a nice enough read but incredibly cliched, 'La Hacienda de los Muertos'. Trick is an old tv star who is offered a role in Mexican horror movie. When he gets there he finds that some of the horror is true. I thought this was okay but everything gets solved a little too easily and quickly.
The last one of the collection was '#MakeHalloweenScaryAgain', a local author tries to use social media to revive Halloween and use it for self promotion, instead it sees a serial killer come out of the woodwork and take the hashtag literally. I quite enjoyed this one, not as much as the first two but I thought it was fun even though it was a little predictable.
Overall, I really enjoyed the collection, the first two stories make it worth while picking up this collection.

Blog Tour: Abuse of Discretion
Abuse of Discretion (Dre Thomas Series, Book 3) - Pamela Samuels Young

Abuse of Discretion is about a boy that saves a picture of and is the one that got accused of something he did not do. What will the justice system do about it? Is the adult system better than the juvenile criminal justice system?

The author takes you inside the juvenile criminal justice system with this story and plot. It about a boy and sex-texting. Will Graylin be put in jail for something he did not do or will be saved interact and that he got a photo of a classmate saved on his phone? He was just doing what young kids do at their age of fourteen. Will the truth be set him free or not.

Why do juvenile criminal justice system judges like to lock up teens and not let them go? It could have to do with something about the law written by the state. We get an inside of the system and to find out what happens we see Pamela and Angelica take on the case of depending Graylin.

Dres Thomas has his own problems to deal with. Will he outwit the Shepard or will he be killed himself? You will need to find out by reading. Pamela Samuels Young write the plot well. She throws in twist and turns and mystery throughout the book.
