Review: Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega #1) by Patricia Briggs
Cry Wolf - Patricia Briggs

Anna never knew werewolves existed, until the night she survived a violent attack... and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she'd learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. Then Charles Cornick, the enforcer—and son—of the leader of the North American werewolves, came into her life.

Charles insists that not only is Anna his mate, but she is also a rare and valued Omega wolf. And it is Anna's inner strength and calming presence that will prove invaluable as she and Charles go on the hunt in search of a rogue werewolf—a creature bound in magic so dark that it could threaten all of the pack.

I read and love the Mercy Thompson series so of course I wanted to read this series as well and I’m happy that I did.

Of course I already know most of the world and setting from the Mercy books and some of the characters but of course we get some new elements and storyline and some more new characters and that made the book just great and fun to read.

I should say that I never was  big fan of Bran, Sam and especially Charles and had a bit of a rough start with Charles in the beginning. But at the end he stated growing on me…. I’m still not his biggest fan and more than once wanted to punch him but I did up liking and understanding more of him.

Also I did not read the pre-quell Alpha & Omega and think it would have helped especially in the beginning of the book. I was a bit confused but things cleared up fairly fast.

Anna, I really enjoyed her , while she started out pretty timid and quiet you could still tell she is a pretty strong charades, She thinks things through and she will not back to down from people. She is really kinda feisty and of course has her funny moments.

Charles as mentioned not my fav but he is growing on me. Anna just makes him so much more likable. But I did enjoy seeing a bit more of his magic from his mom’s site .

I liked how Anna and Charles grew and got to know each other as mates and as a couple throughout the book, it was fun to follow them.

Bran, like I said earlier he I never really liked him all that much but after this book I actually like him a lot. We learn a lot more about him, his history and really Charles and Sam’s history as well .

Asil. Ohhh Asil, I really liked him, he became one of my favorites in this book, I knew from the first time we meet him there is more to him. I just like everything about him.

Overall I really enjoy this book, I really enjoyed and looking forward to learn more about Omegas I thought it was very interesting. I also liked the witch part and always love a good witch stories and such.

So in short I really enjoyed this first book in this series and looking forward to book two

I rate it 4 ★

Delaney Abbot has never wanted to live anywhere other than Spring Grove, Kentucky. She loves the town, the people, and the whiskey made right down the road at McElroy’s Distillery. If only she could find a man in her beloved small town worthy of all that love she has to give.

The first thing Reed McElroy did when he finished high school was get the heck out of Spring Grove, Kentucky. He’s happy with his life as a veterinarian in the big city, and he would just as soon never step foot in his small town again. Delaney has had a crush on Reed since she was knee-high to a grasshopper, but he never looked at her the same way.

Now that tragedy has dragged him back home kicking and screaming, Reed has no choice but to make peace with a past clouded by small-mindedness and judgment. He is forced to see his hometown through grown-up eyes, and everywhere he looks, he finds local sweetheart Delaney. It seems like everyone in Spring Grove loves her. So, why shouldn’t he?

Small-Town Sweetheart (The Spring Grove Series Book 2)Small-Town Sweetheart by Toni Aleo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book #2, in The Spring Grove series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment, I recommend reading this series in order.

Reed has to come home due to tragedy. While there he catches up with old friends, and Delaney. They have sparks between them that causes both good and bad.

Delaney and Reed have known one another basically their whole lives. This attraction between them is new. The heat is growing and they run into one another everywhere.

This was such a slow burn. The heat just builds between the characters until they are nearly scorched from it. I love the banter, and this series just has the most amazing people in it to read about.

About the Author:

My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.

I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.

I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!

When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.

I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.
… and did I mention I love hockey?

Their marriage is put to the test as the two men both live and work away from each other, causing tensions to rise and tempers to flare. Will absence make the heart grow fonder or is this a case of out of sight, out of mind? Join Kyle and Elliott for their newest adventures in racing, trust, and passion.

Excerpt:

But then the window frame rattles and my heart explodes, piercing the expanding bubble that has contained my tears. The noise of Kyle’s engine doesn’t disappear into the distance straight away; instead, it reverberates through the room for longer than it should. I still have time to dash to the door and call him back. I implore myself, but I’m rooted to the spot, too fragile to risk further shattering my heart. It’s only when the roar of the engine begins to fade that I crumple in a ball. I draw my knees up to my chin, struggling to dull the searing agony in my chest as the unhappiness, which has been building over the last few months, finally spills free. I give way as the barriers I protected myself with before Kyle and I met won’t rebuild fast enough. My flimsy protection comes crashing down, and I howl in a voice that is not mine because he took me at my word and left when all I wanted was for him to tell me I was wrong and hold me.
