~BOOK BLURB~

Folsom

Tarryn Fisher & Willow Aster

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The nation as we know it is a thing of the past. With the male species on the verge of extinction, a society called the End Men is formed to save the world. Folsom Donahue is one of twelve men whose sole purpose is to repopulate the Regions. The endless days spent having sex with strangers leaves Folsom with an emptiness no amount of women, money, or status can fill.
Until Gwen.
Gwen has wanted a child for as long as she can remember, but when she finally gets a chance to have her own, she uncovers a long-hidden truth. The injustice she sees moves her to help save the men whom no one else believes need saving.
A forbidden love, grown in a time of despair, ignites a revolution. Folsom and Gwen, torn between their love for each other and their sense of duty, must make a choice. But some will stop at nothing to destroy them.
Folsom is book one of the End of Men series.
~MY QUICKIE REVIEW~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was very intrigued by the premise of this and at first, I was totally into it, I even found myself telling my husband about it (and he actually listened).  It felt different, edgy and made you think.

Then about the halfway mark…it fell apart for me, it just felt so rushed, like frantic.  I was clenching my teeth while I read it, even…and then there was that ending.  I'm not upset that it had a cliffhanger, either…only how it played out.  Ultimately, the world Fisher and Aster created just sort of felt too crazy and too sad for me.  Despite that, I think I will read the next book, Jackal.  Probably soon, since my super cheap 3 months of KU is almost done.  I have to know how this ends, at least I think I do...

Just A Little Junk - Stylo Fantome

~BOOK BLURB~

Just A Little Junk

Stylo Fantome

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jodi Morgan is having a bad weekend.
After partying a little too hard, she wakes up with a monster hangover and almost no recollection of the night before. So imagine her surprise when she looks in her trunk and instead of finding a spare tire, she finds the last guy she'd danced with before blacking out.
Who is he? How did he get in there? How did he die? And oh dear lord, did she kill him!?
When her older brother's best friend offers to help, things start looking up. They've known each other since she was thirteen, and ten years later, he still treats her like a little kid - surely, committing felonies has to trigger some sort of spark. Together, they wind up going on an adventure that takes them all over Los Angeles. From raves to penthouses to strip clubs. All in the search for the answer to her question.
Who is the dead guy in my trunk!?
~MY QUICKIE REVIEW~
If you like a funny, albeit, over the top rom-com, reminiscent of The Hangover with a splash of Weekend at Bernie's, you should give this a try. (((The scene at the rave is my favorite of the whole book))). I thought this was a totally fun read, while not life-changing or anything quite like that, though.  And, other than the twist near the end and everything following after, this could have been a solid 4-stars.  That whole scene…it was just too over the top for me.  But hey, it could make for an entertaining movie, I'm sure.
My Thoughts
Some of the others who have read this book, have loved it. And yet, the reasons that they loved it so much more than the first two books, are the same reasons that I did not like as much as the first two books.  The biggest of those reason's being that it's darker than the first two stories.  Darker in a way that makes it physically painful to read at times.
Talia's story is sad and heartbreaking, and yet I didn't really feel like I connected to her as much as I wanted too.  Alexi is clearly broken too, and his story is heartbreaking, but made even more so by the treatment of his family or Vory as they're called.  I'm just not feeling this Vory…their code that they live by or whatever.  I don't think it's for me.
Tracy Marks has done excellently with the narration of this series…but this particular story, and I think it may be because of the Russian accent rather than the Irish accent, fell a little short of excellent for me.
Will I read more from this Author?  I don't know, who knows where the next reading challenge could lead me, Romance Bingo 2017 led me to this one…but...not likely.
⇝My Thoughts⇜
I'm fairly certain that this book made me realize that I don't really care for books with a circus setting…the weirdness , the uncouthness of it all just doesn't work for me.
I started this book out, not liking any of the characters in it.  Then somewhere along the way, I realized that I liked Daisy a lot.  She really grew on me, despite hating the narrator for this.  Her voice did not click with me at all.  Daisy is unfortunately, the only one who I came to like.  In summary, this is a very well written story, with an intricate plot that was held back by the lack of likable characters, and setting for me.
⇝Sex Factor⇜ Yes, there is explicit sex but not too much.
Will I continue this series?  I have to mention; I am deducting some points on this series as a whole because I feel it could have been told in one book (with a little less sex in it) much better than being stretched out into three.  Even two books would have been okay.
3.3/5 STARS
⇝My Thoughts⇜
I received an ARC of the first book (Dirtiest Secret) and the last book (Sweetest Taboo), but this one…I was denied, I don't know, go figure???  So I had to get this one from the library and I had to wait forever for it, so despite my feelings, there is definitely a lot of people who love this stuff.
 I really like the mystery in this; surrounding the whole kidnapping that Dallas and Jane suffered in their teens, it's gut wrenching and yet...intriguing.  If it wasn't for that element I probably wouldn't even continue the series.  The Taboo part…hehhh…not really a factor for me, they liked each other in that way before they ever become adopted siblings.  At least they aren't actual brother and sister, because that is super ewe.
⇝Sex Factor⇜  I cannot lie…this women can write some scorching sex scenes.  Very Sex-plicit!!!  For me, the amount of sex is a little over the top.
