Whispers in the Dark by Maya Banks
Whispers in the Dark - Maya Banks

Whispers in the Dark

Author:  Maya Banks

Series:  A KGI Novel #4

Genre:  Romantic Suspense

I honestly did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did.  The paranormal twist to the story threw me for a loop at first, as this is a romantic suspense series, but it totally worked and I think it added something extra to the series.

I love the KGI series!!
The Darkest Hour - Maya Banks

I chose this book for my book club to read.  Reading it again was a very moving experience.  I realized the reason I re-read this book every year is that it has such an amazing love story among hot guys who are badass.

Maya Banks is an amazing author and she gives everybody something with this love story. Plus, they find a bad guy before the end of the book as well.

This book starts out the KGI series (stand for Kelly Group International).  Ethan Kelly is the 4th out of 6 children.  All of them former or current military.  All hot.  Ethan begins the book with his complete mourning of the loss of his dear wife, on the anniversary of her death.  Before the day even begins, he receives a package that changes everything.  Rachel Kelly, his wife - may be alive.

I promise the story has a great pace and a secondary story within it where the family gains more members and grows a bit.  Worth reading, like I said, again and again.

Whispers in the Dark
Whispers in the Dark (KGI, #4) - Maya Banks

I wasn't sure about the paranormal element in what was a romantic suspense series. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. It does end with someone still missing and I assume the next book will pick up right where this one left off. I enjoy the "togetherness" in this family. They do a good job supporting each other and at the end of the day, the women hold their own as well.
My only issue (and this was present in the previous books too) is the "like a girl" comments that get thrown around at times (like you fight like a girl, you cry like a girl- I didn't write down the exact quote in this one, I will keep an eye out in future books and put the quote(s) in my review(s)). I do think it's demeaning towards women (and men) and unnecessary.

Forged in Steele by Maya Banks
Forged in Steele - Maya Banks

Forged in Steele begins when Steele finally acts on his attraction to Maren. He's been lusting after her for a while now, but also locked down his feelings because he didn't want to be involved with anyone. So he decides to have just one night, and then leave the next day. Maren who also has a major attraction to Steele wants more than one night, but she will take what she can get from her, even if it means one night. But after that night neither of them stop thinking about each other.. And when he comes back because he admits he wants her again he has to leave soon to go on a mission not knowing the danger Maren is about to be in.

A few days after Maren said good bye to Steele she is kidnapped, and kept with a crazy man who wants her as his woman. But due to certain circumstances he won't harm her..yet. So now Maren has to hope that Steele, and KGI will find her because she's not sure how she can endure staying with this man any longer... Steele and the rest of KGI will stop at nothing to get her back. And Steele finally realizes what he feels for Maren he just hopes he can see her again to tell her.

Steele was a major ice man through out all of the previous books but man it was awesome seeing a different side of him. And part of it was fun to see everyone's reactions to his new emotional side. I laughed so hard at certain times, and was terrified during others. I really enjoyed this book, it was very good. And this series is seriously awesome. I can not wait to read more.

Shades of Gray by Maya Banks
Shades of Gray (KGI, #6) - Maya Banks

Shades of Gray begins when PJ and her team go on a mission. It's a different kind of mission than they've been on before because PJ is actually using her woman charms, not her sniper rifle. But when things go horribly wrong and PJ gets hurt she leaves her team to go track down the people who hurt her. She basically disappears for six months with out contacting anyone including Cole.. And now when they finally find her they want to help her with this mission. But PJ has a long way to go to accept what happened to her, and to accept the help from those who love her. We get to see a horrible thing happen to her, but she stands up strong and keeps going. Cole is also a big part in this book, and I hated to see him hurting for PJ Not just Cole hurting for her either, it was his whole team. It was truly amazing to see how they felt about what happened to her, and who they stuck by her side. KGI really is a family!

PJ and Cole are wonderful together. I really enjoyed reading their story. I felt for P.J through out the whole book I felt so bad for her. But I also admired what she did through out the rest of the book to get back at those who hurt her. She was extremely strong to go through all of that. And of course we get to see the other strong Kelly woman of KGI help PJ as well. They are all wonderful woman, and men. And I was very happy with this book. This series just keeps getting better and better with each book!
