Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman,Caroline Binch

I absolutely love this book and I am so grateful Ms. Gilmore introduced me to it. It will always be a part of my collection. I love the message and it is a great book for children most importantly. Grace is talented, fearless, and determined. She does not let anyone or anything stand in her way and that is a great quality to have. There are so many activities you can do with this book, students can put on a play and act out the book or write about what they want to be when they grow up. For younger students instead of writing about what they want to be, they could draw or act it out and explain it to the class.

Amazing Grace by Caroline Binch is a book about a young girl named Grace. She loves stories, whether they're from books, movies, or the kind her grandmother tells. Grace gets a chance to play a part in Peter Pan, and she knows exactly who she wants to be.

Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman,Caroline Binch

Amazing Grace is about a little girl who loves to pretend and act out plays and stories. She then gets an opportunity to play Peter Pan, but other kids make tell her she can't because she is a girl and is black. This book is a great way to teach students about perseverance. You could also even go to the point of asking the students what they want to be when they grow up and get them to describe how they can achieve that.

Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman,Caroline Binch

Amazing Grace is an amazing book that is full of boldness and courage. Grace is a young girl who is determined to be whatever she wants to be. Even though some of her peers think otherwise, Grace becomes Peter Pan in a play at her school. This book can be read at anytime of the year to your students and can support the students with self-love and courage. Also, this book can support student's decisions as they choose to be or do whatever they want.I would definitely read this in my classroom during whole group reading.

Becoming Peter Pan
Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman,Caroline Binch

Review:

Grace loves to hear all kinds of stories. She sometimes even recreates them in her backyard. One day at school, her teacher informs her class that they will be putting on the paly Peter Pan. Grace new instantly just what part she wanted to play. Grace ends up going through a lot of judgement and ridicule by her classmates. Grace overcomes all of the challenging words she faces and successfully gets the part of Peter Pan.

Classroom Activity:

For this book students will be creating "Caring Books", each student will write down words of encouragement that they've either heard from their parents, grandparents, other family members, and even friends. We will then as a class read them and decide how they could apply in our classroom. Each one will be placed in a book and, when it is needed, will be pulled out as a reference if students ever need some encouragement or need a reminder of how to encourage others.
