Reading progress update: I've read 34%.
Frieda: the original Lady Chatterley - Annabel Abbs

Well, the book has been ridiculous in parts so far, but Frieda's latest mission takes the biscuit:

Feeling that her husband, too, should be freed from the shackles of matrimony pressed on him by the patriarchy, she sets up a woman to visit him and seduce him.

The poor man knows nothing about this plan, of course. What is worse, it's very much not something he's looking for.

Erm,... uh,... WTF?

Btw, hubby is saved by fainting from what can only be described as a very sudden onset of double pneumonia...for which he has so far not shown any symptoms. You know, like a cough or anything.

I'm out.

DNF @ 35%.

This week's audiobook
Frieda: the original Lady Chatterley - Annabel Abbs

It seems I have a knack for picking historical fiction for my work-from-home setup. And at that, I seem to pick historical fiction that does not work for me.

I'll give this another hour, which should take me to about 25% of the book and will make a call then whether to continue with this.

Double Digit - Annabel Monaghan
For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-Cycle

I have not read the first book in this series. I found this is a Little Free Lending Library awhile back and was intrigued by the cover. It was even better than I was expecting.

I don't think you necessarily have to read the first book before you read this one, but like most series, it would definitely help if you did. The narration backtracks enough to give you an idea of what happened in the first book so you can get away with not knowing anything about the story.

This is an exciting, well-written book. I love how much math and coding played into it. It is a very fun read. There is a good mix of typical young adult girl stuff going on alongside exciting math-related crime stuff. A very cool premise.

There is a love triangle, which is a plot devise I absolutely hate, but it doesn't take up a ton of space in the novel. There is enough awesome stuff going on that I was still entertained despite the annoying relationship bits.

Good book. I definitely want to go back and read the first book.

#1 - Delirium stories by Lauren Oliver
Delirium Stories: Hana, Annabel, and Raven - Lauren Oliver

I first read Delirium in 2014 and had wanted to read this collection of novellas ever since. I'm glad I did because it was a nice addition to the series. However, I guess I should probably have re-read the series first because I had forgotten so many things about this world. I remember really enjoying the Delirium series and I just add it to my "re-read TBR"!

It was refreshing to see from other characters' perspectives and I know what happened here were important events from the original series but I just did not remember a lot.

It was a pleasant and short first read of the year!

Book Review For: DARK CONTROL by Annabel Joseph
Dark Control (Dark Dominance) (Volume 1) - Annabel Joseph

'DARK CONTROL' by Annabel Joseph is the First Book in a New Series called "Dark Dominance". This is the story of Juliet and Fort.
Fort and his friends are into hardcore BDSM and they go to an exclusive club that is only open on Saturdays. But they are all feeling like they want to get out and do their thing but go to a lower standard type club. There Fort happens to see Juliet who is outside looking upset and drunk. Fort feels compelled to help her and tries to take her home. But ends up with her at his apartment. Fort finds her attractive but doesn't act on it and the next day she leaves. Fort thinks to never see her again but he can't get her out of his mind. They end up in a Dom / Sub relationship which Fort makes it clear and Juliet agrees that will be all that they have. But as with perfect plans they aren't so perfect.
This was a really hot book that I did enjoy. The only thing that stuck out to me was that Fort was dealing with a past issue but I didn't really feel the connection with that issue. Overall loved the book and hope to read more from Ms. Joseph soon.
"My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
