Review of a debute gem: April showers
April Showers - Karli Perrin

I made the mistake of starting this book right before I had to go to sleep and I ended up reading it until 4:30am. It was a very enjoyable, fun book.

April meets a handsome stranger and falls head over heels for him. But when she finds out who he really is, things get very complicated. Enter a very sweet and caring friend - lukas. Aprils struggles with who she likes more and who she's supposed to like.

I really liked all of the characters. It seemed very real and you could really feel the instant tension between April and Isaac. I also really liked Lukas and I wasn't sure who I wanted her to end up with. The writing is really great and it pulls you in. It is a fast read and I finished it all in one sitting. I liked April as a main character and her best friend Katie was also a nice addition to the story.

What made this book - for me - better than four stars is largely because it's the first New Adult book I've read that actually managed to suprise me on the plot on several occasions. I really enjoyed that and on top of that, it's a really nice and fun read. A great debut and I'd recommend it to any fan of the new adult genre.

I do really dislike that it ends with a cliffhanger because the wait for the next book is probably going to be very long. Since I can't wait to read the next book!

April Showers
April Showers - Karli Perrin Firstly I would like to thank Karli for sending me a copy of this book. This obviously in no way affected my review.

So I had seen so many good reviews for this book that I had high expectations I did not meet those expectations it we and truly exceeded them! I absolutely fell in love with this book. If you haven’t read it in urge you to do it right this second. Drop everything. Karli is now up there as one my my favourite authors.

I instantly fell In love with April. She is a girl that I could see myself being friends with. It made me miss being at university. I had the best time of my life there and would give anything to be back there with all my friends.

I though the love triangle dynamic was fantastic. Her heart was fighting for Issac while her head, and her fear if getting kicked off her course, fought for Lukas. I am 100% team Isaac. Yes she cares for Lukas but he’s too safe. She quite obviously loves Issac. I do have to say I felt a little sorry for Lukas, he’s clearly fallen for April.

Katie was an excellent best friend. She told April exactly what she needed to hear even if it wasn’t what she wanted to hear. That is the job of a best friend.

This book is hilarious. It will literally have you laughing out loud on multiple occasions. It will also have you wanting to scream at April in frustration. I hope that this review has done this book justice. This book ended on such a cliffhanger that I just cannot wait for April fools.

April Showers (April, #1)
April Showers (April, #1) - Karli Perrin April Showers (April, #1) - Karli Perrin

4.5 stars

There was so much I loved about April Showers; I loved the characters, I loved the romance and I loved the emotion. I also loved the fact it is set in England very close to where I live. If you are British you will enjoy that it captures life so well (onesie references ftw!) and if you aren’t then you will like that the guys have sexy English accents.

Both the two guys in this book are amazing; I am utterly torn and cannot decide who I like more out of Isaac and Lukas. With two guys comes two romances and I loved how different they both were. Love is often different and this book showed that rather than giving us two identical romances. One is all consuming lust and love with wild emotions whilst the other is strong friendship becoming something more; a love that is calmer, safer and sweet. Isaac is unbelievably sexy whilst Lukas is charming and funny.

There was one aspect of the book that stopped it being perfect was that it has insta-love. Like where the characters have only had one conversation and already they want to be together for ever and if they can’t then their life is over. Anyone who knows me will know that reading a book with insta-love usually makes me want to jump into a vat of boiling oil. I would have preferred the characters to know each other a tiny little longer before being madly in love but it didn’t spoil the book for me. It shows just how good this book was that even though it had insta-love I still loved the book overall.

April Showers has emotion, drama and twists without it being too much. There are also lots of light hearted and funny moments; April is a girl you would want to be friends with as she is smart and entertaining. This book showed a little more of University life than most NA books do and that was something I really liked. Rather than only focusing on the romance and nothing else we got to see April dealing with being away from her friends and family for the first proper time.

The ending is such a cliff hanger! I need the second book immediately! I didn’t know that April Showers would be the first in a series so a few pages from the end I was thinking “this is a really nice, sweet ending” then BAM! I did not expect that to happen. I am really looking forwards to seeing what happens next, especially as there are a few characters I don’t quite trust and think must be up to no good.

I highly recommend this book; it is one of the best contemporary romance novels I have read recently and I have a strong feeling that this authors name will soon be on everyone’s lips. You will love this if you like NA, romance, or just any book with a smart and funny main character.

April Showers (April, #1) - Karli Perrin April Showers (April, #1) - Karli Perrin April Showers is Karli Perren's debut novel. The synopsis completely drew me in and I knew it was something I had to read, especially seeing that it took place in England so I could imagine them talking with their hot British accents.

April Adams is starting fresh. She has enrolled at Mancheseter and it's a whole new experience for her. After literally running into the hottest guy on campus, Isaac, her thoughts are consumed by him. She just can't shake him no matter how hard she tries. Confused by her emotions, she finds comfort in the friendship of Lukas Roberts. Torn between feelings of passion and safety, April must decide what truly makes her happy.

I loved April's snarky attitude. I also loved how she had the ability to take what she dished out. I did have a couple of faults with her, the first being how she couldn't make up her mind and ignored her own feelings. The second was the way pitted Isaac against Lukas, knowing how they both felt about her. Speaking of the men, I loved Isaac. He was just as snarky as April and I loved how they interacted with one another. He's also willing to risk everything for April if she would just let him. As for Lukas, I really liked him at first. I even found comfort in him myself. As their friendship grows into more, April learns that maybe he wasn't the security blanket she first thought he was.

Perrin has built an intense love triangle on a college setting. Between lies, deception, passion and romance, this story takes you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. It had me laughing one minute and sobbing the next. The only fault I had with the story itself is that it ended in a tragic cliffhanger, which I hate. I can't wait for the next book in the series to see the fallout. It also took a little getting use to the language at first as the characters are British and it takes place in England.

If you love an intense romance, then you should definitely give this book a try. It's now one of my to favorites in the new adult genre.
