quote 2015-09-24 20:09
" It was a fantasy of lights and sounds and smells, crooked candy-striped tents, and laughter that burst like cannon fire out of the winding paths. Curiosities lurked around every corner. "

Sarah is a successful corporate lawyer who has taken a special interest in the immigration case of Ahmad, who’s seeking asylum in the United States. Red flags fly fast and furious as Ahmad’s case is handled by the Feds in a very non-routine manner. Ahmad came to the States after being imprisoned and tortured and Sarah is determined to get him the asylum he seeks. Representing Ahmad turns into a nightmare when she’s targeted and attempts are made on her life. To make matters worse, her community wonders at her allegiance to America, but Sarah cannot allow Ahmad to be forced back to Iraq. She and her friends are all that stand between Ahmad and certain death if he’s returned to his country. Will her faith in truth and the American legal system be rewarded or will she learn the deep, dirty side of the system that she’s heard so much about but never experienced?

quote 2013-09-28 04:17
As midnight approached, I neared the completion of my cleaning. I paused, locking the front door. I could hear the buzzing of two tattooing machines, as both Trixie and Bronx were in the middle of designs. I flipped back the edge of the carpet nearest the glass case and got down on hands and knees with the broom. I carefully cleaned the bits of glass out of the pentagram that had been inscribed in the wood floor. I didn't think the glass would interfere with the spell, but I didn't need to take chances right now when I had so many problems building. I certainly couldn't afford any surprises.
With the carpet back in place, I unlocked the front door. Putting the broom and dustpan back where they belonged, I carried the glass-filled trash can out to the Dumpster and replaced the garbage bag while Trixie and Bronx finished up their work. Other than the broke glass case in the front lobby, the place looked normal agai. I picked up the phone, but I caught myself. It was after midnight. I would have to wait until I opened the shop on Tuesday to call the Glass company for a replacement. I was so used to working late hours that I have-expected the rest of the world to work the same hours. The nice part was that with so many nocturnal creatures in the world, there were a lot of business that did keep late hours. Unfortunately, Johnston & Johnston Glassworks was a human-run company as far as I was aware, which meant that they closed around six in the evening. To make matters worse, tomorrow was Sunday, Asylum was closed on Sunday and Monday. While the case would have to wait, the timing was perfect for fixing Tera's tattoo, if I ever figured out how.
Shoving both my hands in my pockets, I watched as my companions cleaned up their stations after finishing with their respective clients. The tattoos must have been relatively simple, because each had taken just over an hour to complete, from setting the outline to bandaging the site. I could only guess that both clients had also come in with their own designs, since I didn't hear either go into the back from to complete a sketch or stir a potion. All in all, easy jobs.

There is more to this quote, but I'll stop now because most likely you stopped reading. I'm sharing this with you to express my point of this being the most boring book I've ever read.  There is NOTHING about this entire cluster of words that is relative to the story. Not a damn word. Is it necessary to talk about a tattoo shop owner replacing a glass case? NO. You know why? It's like one of those assumed things like, we know they eat and shit and sleep but we don't NEED TO READ ABOUT THE MUNDANE DETAILS. If you, the author feels it's really necessary to the plot to address cleaning up broken glass and watching his employees, let's go ahead and say something like this:

"I'm going to have to call and get this replaced on Tuesday when the shop opens up again, in the mean time I need to figure out how to fix Tera's tattoo."

That's it.

One fucking sentence.

It's also largely irrelevant and any decent editor would cut it because THE WHOLE STORY IS ABOUT FIXING TERA'S TATOO.

I'm in caps lock because I am actually yelling.
