I was promised dragons
Havemercy - Danielle Bennett,Jaida Jones

And technically, there were mechanical dragons in the book, but they were more props than the characters they deserved to be.

The book was basically two parallel stories written together, each with their own pair of characters.  The separate storylines were a bit too separate for me, while being smashed up right against each other.

Good book, but not on top of my "I need to finish this series" list.

I'm assuming they're going to start hate-boinking

Rook... might not be a sociopath, but the jury's out on that.  Reviews seem to indicate that he and Thom aren't going to get it on, but man it feels like they're going to.

Seriously not enough dragons.  They're basically flying cars that can talk.  Props, not characters.  :/

Also, I have a feeling that when what the hell is actually going on with the 'war' is revealed I'm going to be annoyed at stupid no-sense games.

I want to punch Rook in the face
Havemercy - Danielle Bennett,Jaida Jones

... and he really deserves it

Probably the best moment in the book was his own dragon calling him a "common little fucker" (even if it was probably said with some affection).

I'm assuming that the story lines will come together, but right now it's all stretched out a bit much.

I do have to wonder at a country who's special weapon is basically a baker's dozen ill-tempered and self-centered young men with about as much self control as a three year old.

I'm really not digging the writing style as much as the style in Temeraire.   It's not that this is poorly written; far from it, as it's actually quite excellently written.   I just don't enjoy this style as much, and add to that there's way less dragons and more humans in this than in Temeraire, and well, there you have it!
