Carved Hearts Series Bundle Books 1-3
Carved Hearts Series Bundle Books 1-3 - ... Carved Hearts Series Bundle Books 1-3 - L.G. Pace III If you need a weekend romance binge read, this is a definitely recommended "to read" from me. It's got everything in a contemporary romance story you are looking for. A strong woman who knows what she wants, a heartbroken man who needs to heal, a little bit of suspense and surprises along the way.

Molly and Joe's story isn't without it's ups and downs. They both come from difficult past relationships and some of the baggage gets in the way as their story progresses. Both characters felt so very, very real to me. Their troubles and doubts were real life stuff that makes us who we are. It was a joy to read each character develop into a stronger couple at the end. So why a .5 star deduction? This is purely a personal preference for me. The authors tie back or repeat items necessary for a reader if they would pick up book 2, for example, to stand alone. This is good for single reads or when the series is released over months. However for a box read, the repetitiveness got the storyline to slow down. So I found myself in skim mode. Like I said, I understand the why, so this just a personal preference quirk. Other than that - I loved Molly and Joe's journey to HEA.

This book was gifted by a trusted book friend and she definitely did not steer me wrong. If you are looking for a romance with real life relationship struggles and light on the sex, this is a definite 4.5 out of 5 star recommendation from me.

Heartwood - Michelle Pace,L.G. Pace III

It's so hard to find the words to write this review. Heartwood ended up being my favorite book in the series. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but that ended up being exactly why I thought it was so great!

After the more subdued, subtle conflict in Mollywood, Heartwood snuck in and hit like a battering ram to the heart. It held you close, whispered sweet nothings in your ear, and just when you felt completely at peace and comfortable in it's embrace, it gripped you by the heartstrings and tugged at each once until you didn't think you could bear a second more.

tugging on the heartstrings

And yet you couldn't turn away. I truly mean that. I was up until nearly 4am consuming this story. I had to finish every last word before I could even consider trying to actually get some sleep. Even though I was pretty freaking tired the next day, this story was worth every second of the exhaustion I suffered from it lol.

While I wouldn't say that the Carved Hearts series has ever shied away from telling  some of the harsher aspects of life, I was quite surprised at the level that was taken to in this addition. I thought it was a brave, and bold choice by the authors, and I appreciated the story that much more because of this. The direction taken here wasn't what I was expecting, but as it happens, that made everything better. I appreciated the other quieter times more because of it.

shock and awwwww

As always in this series Heartwood also deals with some of the more baser issues of a couple, and their struggles too. It's so great to see how far both Joe and Molly have come . Their character growth shines through in the way they deal with each other and with life in general, especially when it decides to throw them a curve ball.

I can't praise this book enough, but alas, I do not want to give anything away. I wouldn't dream about ruining this breathtaking journey. So I'll just end by saying Heartwood is a CAN'T MISS conclusion to an INCREDIBLE series. If you haven't had a chance to start this series yet, do yourself a favor and start now! Especially since all the books are out now, and you won't have to wait in agony for the next one to come out, like I did!

*** A very special thank you to L.G. and Michelle Pace for allowing me to take part in being some of the first people to read and review this series since the very first book. I fell in love with these characters and it's very bittersweet to say goodbye to them, but I couldn't have dreamed up a better ending for them than the one you guys gave us! Happy release day!

Mollywood - L.G. Pace III,Michelle Pace

its good gif   Mollywood started us off only a few months ahead from where Good Wood ended, which was perfect, in my opinion. It was far enough that we got to see Joe and Molly settled into their relationship, but not too far ahead that they weren’t still trying to figure out how to make it a successful one. I loved that most of their problems were so relatable. Relationships, even the best of them, have their struggles, blending and sharing your life with someone else is no easy feat. I love how that was portrayed here. Sometimes it’s not the big dramas that tear people apart, but the small things we can’t seem to compromise or find common ground on, that snowball out of control. I thought it was awesome that this was focused on rather than the typical trend we see so often now, in contemporary romances/New Adult, of some girl from the male lead’s past coming in to make waves for the new couple. It made this book stand out to me doing a more subtle relatable conflict.

I loved getting to see all the progress that had happened with Molly and Joe both individually as well. Joe was in a much better place emotionally than he was in Good Wood, and that was accentuated even more by how he dealt with problems or stressful situations in Mollywood. His character growth really shined in this book. We also got to see so many exciting things happening for Molly, in both her personal and business world. It was nice to see a little more of how her past shaped the way she was dealing with her present relationship. Good Wood was primarily about their pasts and them attempting to deal with their demons and start something new. Where as Mollywood was centered around their present and them trying to build a future together. I really appreciated that transition. It was also fun seeing their blended families coming together and some of the issues that come from that as well. Holidays especially can be interesting to say the least, can’t they?!

All in all this book read like the best kind of comfort food. It was filling and delicious, and just the reprieve needed after a long day. Speaking of inviting and delicious, did I smell a Mac and Kelly book cooking?! I hope so!!

Good Wood - Michelle Pace,L.G. Pace lll

I mean come on with a title like Good Wood....can you really go wrong?! This was a great contemporary romance. The first novel in what looks to be a very promising series! One of the things I enjoyed the most was how both of the main characters were dealing with a their own individual, and very serious, issues. Joe dealing with an unimaginable loss, and Molly just leaving a very rough marriage. They were both, in different ways, running away from things that went wrong in their lives and just so happened to run into each other.

These characters were so rich, their stories grabbed me from the first page, and didn't let go even after the end! Lets start with Molly, she was such a great leading lady! I absolutely loved her strength, and her back story was so much better for it! So many times when I read stories where abuse is involved, it seems like the victim is portrayed as this broken, fearful, timid kind of person, while that makes sense SOMETIMES, it's not always the case. Even the strongest and best of us can get caught up in a situation like Molly's. I was so glad that really came through in this story. She didn't take a lot of crap from people and had a temper, which made for some hilarious outbursts, mostly involving her older brothers. She was also talented, ambitious, kind, funny and completely her own person. She was hands down my favorite character in this book, and that's saying something because even the secondary characters were fantastic in Good Wood!

Joe was almost as terrific as Molly....almost. His story was one of the saddest I have read in awhile. My heart instantly broke for his terrible loss. I have to say here too just how well done his dealing with his issues was done, well when he actually started trying to heal that is. I wasn't a huge fan of his man whoring ways, I think that element could have been left out and he still had enough other issues to deal with that would have been more than enough to keep his story interesting. I feel like this is such a typical thing in contemporary romance/ NA now a days, that quite honestly I'm tired of. But that's just my opinion on it. I really liked seeing Joe start living his life again, and I like that while Molly might have been a catalyst for this, SHE didn't fix him. He worked on his issues, he wanted to be better for her, and for himself, and all his loved ones. I so appreciated that this wasn't yet another co-dependent type relationship where he completely changed all his wicked ways for his one true love whom he just can't live without. He wasn't perfect, but either was she, and they weren't all completely transformed into perfect people in the end. It just made me want more and more of their story! And the chemistry between these two....WOW!

Good Wood dealt with some serious issues, but still managed to be light and fun, and quite funny at times. This was the first book I've read by these authors, but I know it won't be my last! I'll definitely be here waiting for book 2 in the Carved Hearts series!
