Nothing makes you more resistant to falling in love than have been cheated on.

Here are some wonderful Contemporary Romances with heroes or heroines that overcome the hurt to trust and love again.

My lists are never in any particular order. Enjoy!

1. Just My Luck  by Rosalind James

Nate Torrance has a job to do, and the biggest rugby boots in the world to fill. He can’t afford to lose his focus, especially not to a brown-eyed Canadian who pushes all his buttons and looks much too good in a climbing harness.

Allison Villiers may not know what she wants to do with her life, but she’s clear about one thing. She’s not impressed by the new captain of the All Blacks, however big a deal he is to the rest of New Zealand. If only her unfortunate taste for adventure didn’t keep leading her astray ...

2. Tucked Away by Jennie Marts

Charlie Ryan's cheating fiancé left her with a broken heart and even broker bank account. She's hit rock bottom, but everything is about to change. Suddenly, she's inherited a Montana farm named Tucked Away from a grandmother she never knew existed. A fresh start is just what she needs - and no men in her future this time, even if the local vet is as hot as a Montana summer.

Zack Cooper is content with his simple life. Running his veterinary practice and raising his daughter are enough to keep him busy, and he doesn't need a high-maintenance city girl like his ex who plans to sell her grandma's ranch and split faster than a setting sun. So why can't he stop thinking about Charlie and her hot-pink cowboy boots...and the way her eyes say she wants to stay while her lips tease him with plans of leaving?

Just when both start to believe love might be worth the risk...one night will change everything.

3. Your Room or Mine? by Charlotte Phillips

1 cheating ex, 3 bottles of white wine, an emergency pep talk from the girls… and this seemed like a good idea at the time:

Izzy Shaw’s Getting-Over-Him Action List

1. eBay his entire collection of football memorabilia and spend all profits on treating myself to fabulous new wardrobe.
2. Turn plans for ‘Loved-Up Mini-Break’ at exclusive boutique hotel into a weekend of spa pampering, me-time and shopping at Harvey Nics.
3. Don’t get even, get even better. Have one night stand with drop-dead gorgeous stranger – Mr Tall, Dark & Handsome in the hotel lobby is just what I need!

Your room or mine? Go on Izzy…

4. Love Kinection by Jennifer James

Love, romance, hearts, flowers, cupid…. Rubbish.

Abby Fine still hasn’t gotten over the pain of a year-old betrayal and plans to spend this Valentine’s Day drowning her sorrows with a ménage of men named Ben, Jerry, and Riesling.

Her plans are diverted when she drops and breaks her new iPhone and gives in to a momentary hormone surge, agreeing to let office hottie and tech god Tom Walker squirm his way into her condo to fix it.

Tom shows up with his Xbox, spicy Chinese food, and a habit of stealing kisses every time she lets her guard down.

Can a weekend of laughter, video games, and movies change Abby’s opinion of stupid Cupid?

5. Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert

Prim and proper art gallery coordinator Elle Walser is no good at seducing men. Heck, she's been throwing hints at her boss for months, but he's completely clueless. Desperate to escape her mother's matchmaking efforts, she comes up with a plan--buy some lingerie and climb into her boss's bed. The plan goes brilliantly…until she accidentally seduces a sexy stranger instead. Bad boy nightclub mogul Gabe Schultz just had the best almost-sex of his life. Too bad the smoking hot blonde thought he was his brother and bolted before he could finish what they started. Though her holier-than-thou attitude puts a serious damper his mood, Gabe's never been one to give up on something he wants. And he wants Elle. But does a man who lives on the dark side really have a chance with a proper lady?

6. Dangerous Curves Ahead by Sugar Jamison

Ellis Garrett is dumping her critical boyfriend, opening a plus-size clothing store, and starting a blog--all to spread the word that fashion shouldn't require a size-two body, and happiness should allow for the occasional cupcake. Or two. But is indulging fantasies about her sister's long-ago ex, the still-hunky Michael Edwards, biting off more than she can chew?

Mike must be losing his detective's touch. He doesn't recognize Ellis when he bumps into her at Size Me Up, and he certainly doesn't remember his ex-girlfriend's outspoken sister being so irresistible. Her curves are indeed dangerous--and so is her wit. Could it be that Ellis is his Perfect Fit? One thing's for sure: Mike will make it his sworn duty to find out…

7. Shame On You by Tara Sivec

War veteran Kennedy O’Brien is in the business of sticking it to the man—or at least any man who tries to cross a woman. After she returned home from Afghanistan and caught her husband in bed with the nanny, Kennedy lost her faith in men and started Fool Me Once Investigations with her two best friends. After all, there’s no better bounty hunter than a woman scorned.

When Kennedy takes a case to slap cuffs on a bail jumper turned dog-napper, she figures it’ll be an easy paycheck. But trouble has a way of finding Kennedy. Enter the last man on the planet she’d willingly choose as a partner: her cheating ex-husband’s best friend, Griffin Crawford.

As gorgeous as he is unwelcome, Griffin has always had a thing for Kennedy, and after keeping quiet about her ex’s cheating, he’ll do anything to earn back her trust. Whether or not she wants to admit it, Kennedy will need help as the case of the Chihuahua thief spirals out of control. Griffin may be just her man—in more ways than one.

8. In Another Man's Bed by Francis Ray

When Justine Crandall walks in on her husband of six years with another woman, she flees their home, declaring he'll never see her again. And her wish almost comes true when his car careens off a cliff in his pursuit of her. Hours later she finds herself in a hospital, faced with a terrible choice. Will she disconnect his life support because he was a liar and a cheat or because it's the humane thing to do? Or…should she keep faith that he'll revive from his coma? In the meantime, an old love reappears making the decision even more difficult, pitting her heart against her conscience. Justine finds that soon she must choose: be with a man who truly loves her and puts her first, or honor her marriage vows.

9. You Dropped a Blonde on Me by Dakota Cassidy

he was the perfect party-planning, haute-to-the max trophy wife. Now Maxine Cambridge is broke, unemployable and living with her mother and teenage son in a retirement village, with her self-esteem kicked to the curb.

Until her geeky former classmate Campbell Barker returns, all grown-up- and off-the-scale smokin' hot. Campbell refuses to believe Max isn't that smart, funny girl he's crushed on since high school. The more Max tries to show him he's wrong, the more she rediscovers her long-retired mojo. Now, she's ready to throw down some payback on her ex-life and fight for what she deserves...

10. Female Intelligence by Jane Heller

Lynn Wyman is a linguist with her own call-in radio show, a bestselling book and a very unique private practice in which she teaches “The Wyman Method” – sensitivity training for men who want to communicate better with the women in their lives.

She’s about to score her own national TV gig too – until she discovers that her sensitive husband has been “communicating” with another woman in their bedroom and that the media is about to find out. So much for her marriage and her high-profile career.

She consoles herself by spending time with her group of close girlfriends. She’s with all of them one night when she picks up Fortune magazine’s “America’s Toughest Bosses” issue with macho CEO Brandon Brock on the cover.

She lights on an idea. To restore her reputation, all she has to do is snag the notorious chauvinist as a client, take a cue from “My Fair Lady” and turn the pig into her own Pygmalion. If she can transform Brandon Brock into a sensitive man, she’ll have her life back.

Just one hitch. Somebody has been out to sabotage Lynn’s happiness as well as he professional success, and before she can reclaim her career – and win Brandon’s love – she’d better figure out who it is.

Harlequin Kiss March 2014 Bundle: Waking Up PregnantHoliday with a StrangerThe Plus-One AgreementFor His Eyes Only - Mira Lyn Kelly,Christy McKellen,Charlotte Phillips,Liz Fielding

This theme is so common in Contemporary Romances I am willing to guess 1 in 10 books have this troupe.

Its okay. I love it. Why? Hmmm. Why? Well, it isn't because the early months of being preggers are so sexy that's for sure.

I think that in these romances the couples tends to spend lots of time together and aren't getting chased around by bad guys. I like that. Sometimes it is the hero's baby and sometimes its not but its always a surprise and not a plan in this troupe.

In this vast field of really pretty awful romances with this theme, what are the best books?

Here are some I found particularly good!

1. Everyday, Average Jones  by Suzanne Brockmann

2. Her Ideal Man by Ruth Wind

3. Perfection by R.L. Mathewson

4. Waking Up Pregnant by Mira Lyn Kelly

5. Undeniably Yours by Shannon Stacey

6. The Pregnancy Test by Erin McCarthy

9. Seducing Simon by Maya Banks

10. Dedicated Ink  by Ranae Rose

Do you have a favorite? Let me know!

I left off books that feature miscarriage. While realistic, they always broadside me when I am expecting a lighter kind of romance.

I really lack in origianl titles...:(
Did Someone Order Room Service? - Charlotte Phillips

As can be seen on : The Accidental Reader

So here is the deal-

This one is just another romance novella, like many others written before and after.

Plot-wise, it does not stand as unique.

Fun-wise, it's good, but once I finished it I moved on without a single though.

I can say now, 2 months after I read it, that I hardly remember reading it. it did not affect me at any way.

Maybe I'm harsh. Maybe not.

I love romance books and novels very much, and I expect them to invoke some sort of feelings from me. Be it 'it was bloody aewful' or 'I freakking loved it'. Here? No such luck. All I can say is that it's okay.

So why 3 stars? simply because I'm on the fence here. Sometimes I give 3 stars because a book had equally  frustrated me and delighted me. Here it's simply because I felt nothing though the quality is good.

One thing I loved about this book? The writing. I find it really hard to read a book in the third person. It tends to annoy me. Not here.

Which actually says alot.

to summerise: Good writing, Nice sex, Normal story.

Kiss Me On This Cold December Night is a lovely romantic tale which reinforces the magic of Christmas and the potential of the New Year.

As usual with the Do Not Disturb series an unsuspecting couple in this case Ella and Tom are drawn together by fate at a boutique hotel in London.

They've met before but still seem like strangers. After their one night stand five years previously which neither could quite forget they must abandon the rules that govern their lives along with their fear and take their chance of happiness.

I loved Ella. So brave facing yet another Christmas alone but Tom came across as poor little rich boy until the end when he redeemed himself in my eyes.

A lovely festive treat.

I received a copy of this e-book from Harper Collins Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This contemporary,fast-paced romantic novella set in a chic boutique hotel is a lovely escapist read if you have a spare couple of hours. The second in the 'Do Not Disturb series' it has plausible characters that experience their worst nightmares and best dreams within the microcosm of hotel life.

Layla a diligent guest services person becomes the very personal assistant to Matt a celebrity pro-tennis star who appears to court the paparazzi but is he really as shallow as he seems? Layla craves 'normal' family life after a less than conventional upbringing. Smarting from her mother's latest betrayal she meets Matt who epitomizes all she despises. Sparks fly from their first encounter and lead to some steamy love scenes.

I liked Layla because she knows what she should do but follows her instincts rather than commonsense. She risks everything for love and deserves to have a happy ending. Matt is likeable too although his finer feelings do get buried beneath his arrogance and self -preservation periodically.

This is an enjoyable read full of witty conversation and genuine emotion.
