We left off from DAHLIA with only a name--a name that is the next piece to the puzzle. A name that will eventually, "lead us to him." But before we delve into the continuation of the Blood Crave Series, let's answer the question that's been on all our minds.

This 21,000 word novella answers that question, and of how Rowan has come to know the vampire with pitch-black eyes.

Rowan
Series- Blood Crave Series # 2
By- Christina Channelle
Publication Date- April 1, 2013
Genre- YA Paranormal

Blurb:

Dark. Night. Death.

Things Rowan has been trying to avoid for the many years since she was first turned. Her choice: to sleep away the darkness; it beats having to deal with the craziness of life. Or rather, death. However soon after awakening, she stumbles upon a lone figure whose presence is shrouded with mystery.

She assists him in his search for answers making it even more difficult for Rowan to forget her past. She realizes she can’t hide forever as she is literally being sucked back into her chaotic world: a world where both fallen angels and vampires exist, manifested on earth as lapsus and lamia.

Not particularly … friendly with one another.

Rowan struggles to resist her hunger as a demon vampire while dealing with unwanted desires for a fallen angel from the past: a relationship that could only spell trouble. Not to mention the unresolved feelings she still has for a loved one from long ago.

While all of this is happening, they must all seek the hidden evil that hunts them—for there’s an ancient fighting to wake up and destroy everything Rowan holds dear.

Review: Dahlia by Christina Channelle
Dahlia - Christina Channelle
Fallen Tears: A Blood Crave Novella - Christina Channelle
I received these books from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Dahlia is book one in The Blood Crave Series. This series has something for everyone: fallen angels, vampire-like beings, familiars, and of course humans oblivious to the magical chaos surrounding them. Main character Dahlia, has been in an orphanage or foster care since she was five and has no memories of her life prior to that. When she moves in with a new foster family, her dreams for a normal life fly out the window.

The novel opens with Dahlia and her rather creepy memories as a child. She knew she wasn't normal, and everyone around her sensed her strangeness, so of course the poor girl never fit in anywhere. I'm not sure if finally finding out the reason why helped her or made everything harder. Dahlia doesn't know who to trust, and neither does the reader as we navigate the story. It would be hard not to have sympathy for Dahlia. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to know you were different from everyone else and not know why.

Since this is a first book in a series, there is quite a lot of world building, which hits about halfway through in the form of a major info dump. It's easy for the reader to understand Dahlia's confusion since we receive the information at the same time she does. The second half of the novel is one revelation after another. It was enough to make my head spin, but it also made for some rather exciting reading. Even with the massive amount of information during the last half of the story, there's still so much left to the imagination. I'm sure many answers will be presented in the later books.

At the very end, the reader is told that the bad guys (not sure at this point if they are bad or merely bad for Dahlia's health) are now looking for Rowan. Fortunately for us, we can learn much more about Rowan and why the baddies are after her in the novella Fallen Tears. This story takes place between Dahlia and book two Rowan, and gives some background about Rowan and her life story.

I found the plot line of Dahlia to be rather intriguing, and I do like the fallen angel aspect. Being a first book, prepare for a cliffhanger at the end, and of course to have more questions than answers. If you like urban fantasy/paranormal, consider adding The Blood Crave Series to your TBR list. I recommend it to ages 15+ due to graphic violence and mature content.

Review - Reap by Christina Channelle
Reap - Christina Channelle

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Reap is a short YA paranormal novella that will be incredibly difficult to review without spoilers since the entire thing is one big mystery unraveling. It is a hauntingly heart-breaking tale of love and the lengths one will go to preserve it. By the end of Reap, I was sobbing. In fact tears are forming right now as I type this review.

The novella is divided into three sections. In part one, Mia awakens in a strange place, unable to speak, write, or remember who she is. Part two features Mia's regained memories of a tragic past. Then in part three the two prior sections are merged together for an emotionally charged ending.

I really enjoyed Reap, cared about the characters, especially Mia. My biggest complaint is that it's too short. I'm so curious to learn more about Dante, James, and Amy, as well as the strange world they live in. The ending was somewhat shocking. Normally I'm pretty good at anticipating where an author is leading me, but Ms. Channelle threw me for a loop. Since I enjoyed the story, I didn't like being left with so many questions about the characters. I guess I just wanted more.

I recommend Reap to everyone high school and up that enjoys a well written, haunting paranormal story. If you are anything like me, make sure there's a box of tissues on hand - you'll need them.

Reap - Christina Channelle Reap - Christina Channelle I was given this book I ex change for an honest review.

I have to say it was definitely not what I expected. While this book had an emotionally charged ending I felt like sometimes I was simply reading to find out what happens next because it started off so vague. Not reading because I was actually into the story. "Mia" simply appears in some random house with strangers and can't speak and remember nothing. That could go slot of ways. I felt there was a lot of details that were there for extra fluff but they never made any sense, such as why the girls couldn't leave he house. The characters were a bit one dimensional for me. I did however enjoy the twist at the end . I truly felt the emotion of what was trying to be portrayed by the author and I cried Ike a baby. That's was the highlight for me. It was all over much to quickly and the ends weren't really all tied up. It was unusual. I also know that sometimes novellas don't allow a lot of room for elaboration. Oh well.

Rowan (Blood Crave, #2) - Christina Chan... Rowan (Blood Crave, #2) - Christina Channelle http://divainpyjamas.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/rowan-by-christina-channelle.html
I love Rowan's character. She's a tough vampire, who battles each day with retaining her humanity. She's strong, sassy and her only weakness is the two men in her life, her creator Kaji and the magical Remy. She struggles with allowing herself to be happy, knowing that Remy harbors feelings that she feels she can't reciprocate, believing that he deserves a chance at a normal life, a life that Rowan could never provide. The reader will find themselves immersed in their banter and sexual tension.

Beautifully written with poetic passages, reminiscent of Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series. Absolutely loved it and can only hope that Christina creates a Rowan spin off series, the feisty vampire deserves her own spotlight.
