Ride Wild, Ride Free
Mary's Song - Ruth Sanderson,Susan Count

Texas, 1952. Twelve-year-old Mary has spent much of her young life in a wheelchair due to a virus that also took her mother’s life. Despite her disability, she has big dreams, and one of her favorite activities is drawing the horses that live in the neighboring fields. “Each sketch was a wish to ride, wild and free, someday.” She becomes friends with fellow horse lover, Laura, and together the two strive to fulfill their aspirations.

Poignant and inspirational, “Mary’s Song” takes young readers along for a spirited ride. Along with a strong theme regarding friendship, the story has a gentle faith angle and also explores other issues germane to modern readers. One girl’s parents are too uninvolved in her life, while the other’s father is overly protective. The narrative delves into tough subject matter such as dealing with loss and disappointment and persevering amidst trials while still maintaining an overall optimistic tone. Middle-grade readers will be encouraged and entertained by this horse tale, which will appeal to those who enjoy some of the horse classics such as “Black Beauty”, “National Velvet”, and the works of Marguerite Henry.

Echoes from the Past – Answers for Julie by Cate Beauman @CateBeauman
Answers For Julie: Book Nine In The Bodyguards Of L.A. County Series - Cate Beauman

Cate Beauman writes some of the best suspense thrillers I have read and The Bodyguards of LA Country is a series that has kept me entertained for many hours.

Answers for Jule is a perfect example of why I like prologues. How about you?

She also has some pretty fantastic covers, so be sure and check them out.

Great cover job Demonza!

Answers For Julie (The Bodyguards of L.A. County, #9)

Amazon  /  Goodreads

MY REVIEW

Answers For Julie by Cate Beauman hooked me from the very beginning. It also ra

ises the question, do you like Prologues? After reading this one, you may be convinced.

Chase Rider is back in Bakersville, to fix up his grandmother’s home that he inherited when she died, and to sell it. He works for Ethan Security in Los Angeles and he is determined to head back as soon as possible. Little does he know that grandma had other plans for him. Memories surround him, so it’s off to get some comfort food, and I agree, pizza is the best. That is why I love Cate Beauman’s stories so much. She hits all the buttons and make me feel as if I am walking through the pages WITH the characters.

He, literally, bumps into Julie. She is as beautiful as ever. They had been childhood friends and sweethearts. It has been ten years, ten long years, since they have seen each other. The attraction for both of them has never left, but will they admit it? No way. In fact, Chase is being quite the **** and I wish he’d get over himself. lol

I wondered when the past would meet the future, but I did’t see this. I am only at 18% and lapping up the words like a thirsty dog. I can hardly wait to see how the story unravels. Now, I need to keep myself from racing through the pages so fast I miss the mysterious journey along the way.

A simple trip to the grocery store changed everything for Julie. Oh man, now I won’t be able to quit until the last page is read. A sense of anticipation overwhelms me and I see how Chase, the handsome hunk from Ethan Security, will come in handy, his tools, his connections with the FBI…I am at 30% and I cannot imagine what the next 70% will hold.

The romance is back and forth, yeah, expected that, but it’s not too much. Enough to seem real but not so much to make the story lag. Good job Cate. But what about the mystery? Seems cut and dried, so where are you taking this?

UH OH! I am a very suspicious and mistrusting person and I hope Julie is too.

I am always trying to figure out the story before I learn it and love when twists and turns keep my head spinning and my fingers flipping pages. I know I’ve been thinking of the right motive the whole time, but who is the villain? OH NO! I just thought…NO…that can”t be right. Then who?

My eyes are so blurry I can hardly see the words. I have to take a break.

OK, now I get why Miranda did what she did.

Every time I think the end has to be around the corner, Cate Beauman throws more mystery and danger at me. I love how she twists and turn me in the direction she wants me to go and I eagerly follow. I have a few suspects left…

Heartache, smiles, romance, love, mystery and danger. All the elements that make a perfect romantic suspense thriller, plus, putting this over the top!

I purchased Answer For Julie by Cate Beauman from Amazon back in October of 2016. I would have read it sooner had I known what I was missing.

For a serious fiction reading..
Blood Count - Robert Goddard

Amazing Read..!

this is the second book I am reading of Goddard. Yet to finish..

If the book I'm reading haunts me, I consider that it's worth to read.

what's amazing in his works is the characters often think the way you do at a particular situation.. Often, it challenges your thought process. I love it.

Other books are already in the reading list.

Manga Classics: Count of Monte Cristo!!!
Count Of Monte Cristo Manga Classics - Alexandre Dumas

First things first: I received this book through NetGalley.

It took me quite a long time to finish this Manga, it wasn't really the stories fault, more my own. First I had a bit of a reading slump, then I forgot to pick it up again. But I finished it today. And I truly enjoyed the story.

I LOVE a good revenge story, not going to lie. Granted, sometimes the revenger can go a little bit too far, people react differently and really bad things happen that he or she didn't want to happen. As was the case in this story.

I never read the original, I think it has tons of pages, so I probably never will read it, so I can't say if it was true to the original and if all the important things are mentioned. But I can tell you, that I felt like I really got to know the story very well and that for me, everything that was important was mentioned.

Once again, the artwork was just so damn stunning.
