Crave The Night - Lara Adrian

Passionate, intense, and erotic, this latest installment in the Nightbreed series takes you on a roller coaster of emotional highs and emotional lows. The back and forth between the two main characters, as to 'does he like her or doesn't he like her' and 'am I worthy of her or not' leaves the reader guessing as to how and when the characters will finally open up and trust in their feelings and desires. There are plot twists and nice surprises, though others you can kind of figure out early on. The series is no longer one solely focused on humans vs. Breed or Breed vs. Breed, it now adds a whole new villain to the mix, Atlanteans, and not a lot is known about them yet. I enjoyed the story, and I enjoyed the characters. I liked seeing Nathan get his happy ending, especially after getting to know him way back when Hunter and Corinn get together and go rescue her son, and I'm glad Jordana broke away from what was expected of her and went for what she truly wanted. I look forward to seeing where Lara Adrian takes this new installment and the great love stories that she is capable of telling.  She takes the reader on a great ride and I look forward to the next installment.

Crave The Night
Crave The Night - Lara Adrian As the 12th book in the Midnight Breed series, Adrian does not disappoint. Fire and ice collide and the passion explodes right off the page when the heat between Nathan and Jordana ignites...and threatens to burns out of control.

Hang on tight 'cause this is one hell of a ride!

While their passion for each other is hotter than hell, the love that blooms from that passion is deep and tender. I loved the brief glimpses into Nathan's tortured soul, Seeing his vulnerability made me ache to nurture the scared child within.

Jordana helps Nathan realize he is not the monster he feared himself to be...that he is no longer the killing machine Dragos trained him to be.

Emotions never felt before ignite a fierce drive in Nathan to protect his love at all cost...

This book delves more into the origins of the breedmates, with the discovery of Jordana's biological father. I am truly intrigued to learn more about the Atlanteans and how they will effect the future for the vampire breeds and their mates...

Adrian keeps the series fresh with the ever evolving story line, plot twists that will keep you guessing and explosive, mind-blowing love scenes.

I find myself getting lost in the world Lara has created for us. I can't wait to read the next installment of the series.

Crave The Night - Lara Adrian

ARC generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Rating~ 4.25 stars.

This is the 12th instalment in the series and Lara Adrian has managed to keep the series fresh and interesting especially with the new arc. I know some people did not want the stories of the next generation but I think it's a great idea with specific regards to the new enemy and characters.

Nathan:

"I never recall a time when I felt I was anything other than what they made me: a hunter. A killer. A weapon at Dragos's disposal."

We first met Nathan in Deeper Than Midnight where he is found and bought into the compound by his mother Corrine and Hunter. At 13, his personality was set in stone. His captivity and training at the hands of Dragos had made him much like Hunter and even after having found a family and friends, he is very much a loner and focused on doing duty as a member of the order.

"Nathan's internal monologue:  'He was the fighting dog, rescued from the squalor and violence of the betting pits brought into a kind, loving home to live a better life.....Yet, like the dog removed from the ring, when a hand reached out to him-in play or in comfort- it was all he could do to keep from biting it.' "

"A part of him had never come out of Drago's lab and likely never would."

Nathan is an amazing fighter and protective of his family though he doesn't see he is protecting them because he cares. So when Nathan meets jordana and starts to feel something for her it shakes up his whole world. Poor guy. He is also very possessive of Jordana.

"You're mine." Nathan growled savagely. "I can't stay away from you. Fuck, Jordana...I will never have enough of you."

Jordana:

"I want you. I want the storm I see in your eyes when you look at me . I want the high cliff and the breathless leap into the dark, which is how I feel when I'm with you. All I want is you, Nathan. I Love you."

Jordana Gates is best friend to Carys (chase's daughter) and an art gallery owner. Jordana at a young age was adopted by a breed male and has spent all her life doing what was required of her because of her father. From the moment she meets Nathan, she feels attracted to him and similarly to Nathan doesn't know how to handle it. I really liked her. Throughout the book you see her become a strong, independent woman and one who understood and loved Nathan.

It was also very nice to see that though Nathan thought he had his emotions under control he was rattled enough for Chase and others to notice. I really loved Nathan and Jordana as a couple, they had explosive chemistry and their interactions with each other made me sigh. How could you not like them.

"I need you Jordana and I don't want to know what life without you will feel like ever again."

After reading the book I have a few questions especially about Carys and Rune. I would like to know their back-story and since I hate angst I would like Carys and Aric to just talk to each other.

Minor quibbles: I did feel that book was short and because of that I felt that the time the couple actually spent together was quite limited. I checked the book is definitely shorter than the last book, it is also takes place over a week or two at most I think which limits the amount of time Nathan and Jordana spent together.

Overall it was a great read, with an alpha hero, a strong heroine and a compelling plot line.  I can't wait for the next book.

Crave The Night
Crave The Night - Lara Adrian This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Random House Publishing Group via Net Galley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

4 Stars

I did it again. I am one of those people who like to do things in the proper order. I like to follow the rules and do what I am supposed to be doing. So why do I keep jumping around instead of reading a series in the proper order? To be honest, I already know this answer. The problem is that I tend to overestimate what I am going to accomplish when I request books. When I requested this book, I remember thinking that I would read the entire series leading up to this book. Obviously, things did not quite work that way.

My 4 star rating is based completely on the fact that I enjoyed this book. It was one of those books that I liked a lot but I did not feel compelled to stay up all night to finish it. I have read books #1 and #2 in this series and I really liked them so I had a good idea what to expect with this book. Since I was able to skip books #3 through #11 and follow this story, I do think this book could be read apart from the series. Of course, I do realize that I probably missed a few things because I skipped so much of the series so it is probably best to read the series in order if you can.

The focus of this book is Nathan and Jordana. Nathan is a Breed Warrior who was trained to be a hunter. Jordana is a Breedmate who was adopted and raised by her father, a Breed male. The pair are very aware of each other at the start of the story and have shared a kiss before the events in this book. The attraction between the pair is intense. Jordana is promised to marry a prominent Breed male but the spark she should feel is simply not there.

Nathan finds himself drawn to Jordana and immensely protective of her. The pair fall into insta-love and have their fair share of steamy scenes. When Jordana finds herself in danger, Nathan will risk everything to save her.

The plot in this book was somewhat predictable. Troubled man sees smoking hot woman across the room, man falls in love with woman, they run into trouble because they fail to communicate, woman finds herself in trouble, man saves woman. We have all read something along those lines at some point. This book was simply fun for me. The chemistry between the pair was wonderfully written. This is a book that most people are going to pick up simply because they are looking for something fun to read and it delivers. To be honest, I really did not make any attempt to over analyze this book and just had fun with it and I am really glad that I did.

I would recommend this book to others. Lara Adrian has written a wonderful, sexy story in this book. I do still plan to read the whole series....in order at some point. I seriously wonder how much that may affect my enjoyment of this book.
