Alpha One
Alpha One - Cynthia Eden
Juliana is a senator's daughter. Her dear old dad isn't a good person and has done things. Things of a criminal nature. Logan went into the military. His dad was a drunk driver who killed someone (and himself).
This had good suspense, with some TSTL moments, but nothing bad. I liked finding out what Julie and Logan's history was. Logan does get overbearing at times, but Julie holds her own.

Review: A Bit of Bite by Cynthia Eden
A Bit of Bite - Cynthia Eden

Romance Bingo square - Urban Fantasy

I downloaded this book as a NOOK freebie a long time ago, and I needed an urban fantasy/ paranormal story for Romance Bingo, so I figured now would be a good time to read it. The story was a great way to spend time while at the base Laundromat. It is a short paranormal novella (about 95 NOOK pages) about Ava, a human liaison/town sheriff of Crossroads, Mississippi and Julian, the werewolf alpha. I dig werewolf shifter romances, and Julian came to impress and did he ever impress me. Ava was actually a smart heroine when it came to dangerous situations. They worked together as a romantic couple and as partners to find and bring in the killers after them. It was a little short, but page turning. I want to read a lot more from this author in the future and this series!

Book Review: Mine To Take By Cynthia Eden
Mine to Take - Cynthia Eden

For a book in a genre I typically don't read this was surprisingly enjoyable. Which took me off guard because books in this genre usually don't capture my attention enough for me to finish reading the book. There are exceptions to every 'rule' and this was a nice surprise.

I liked Skye very much as a character. Though I kept waiting for her to develop a backbone, but it never happened. I disliked how everyone people told her the things she 'needed' to do even though she knew it wasn't possible she didn't speak up.

I didn't like Trace because he was way too domineering. It all worked out in the end because of his domineering-ness, but I still can't get over it. I don't find that particular personality trait a quality, specially at the level he was at.

Overall it was an enjoyable read. What I will say is that the attacks on Skye seemed a little too good to be true because no one ever saw anything. I kept thinking to myself what if she's actually hallucinating everything or blacking out and doing it all herself. If you ask me, that would have been a much better plot twist.

My Favorite Quotes:

"There was a price for everything in this world."

"A lot can change over all those years. And a lot can stay the same."

"I've always wanted you to have your dreams. I wouldn't destroy them."

On The Prowl (Bad Things) (Volume 2) - Cynthia Eden

Book two in Cynthia Eden's Bad Things series follows a shifter assassin for the devil himself and a human woman who hates violence who is violently turned into a vampire. Their story was entertaining and passionate. The antagonist and conflict were intriguing. Julian is a rough-around-the-edges kind of man who lives a violent life and who knew from the start that he was the wrong man for Rose, but also knowing he couldn't walk away. Rose has tried to hate him for the choice he took from her, but he is still the man she fell for when she was a naïve human. Together they must stop the Collector from acquiring his next specimen, her. Along the way, he mates with her without telling her, she drinks angel blood which she should never have done, they rescue the other victims, find out who is the one who gave a human strong enough magic to cheat death and compel people to do his bidding, and of course have a happy ever after ending for the beast assassin of the devil and vampire who doesn't like violence.  I enjoyed it a lot. Julian is the kind of male lead that is delicious and strong on every page he appears on. Rose is the perfect compliment to him, though it takes him a while to figure that out. Overall, a fun adventure and romance.
