Deceived
Deceived, - L.A Starkey

I feelt slightly 'deceived' as I was expecting something much more fantasy-like based on the cover. Instead, the story bottles down to two guys (who apparently share a soul) both fight for the favour of a girl, their soulmate, in order to become the sole possessor of said shared soul. So romantic, no?

It was a quick read, but I never really felt into it. Had I known the focus would be so much on the development of the romance, even though I think the motives of both guys are questionable, I would have maybe skipped it because that is really not something I usually like to read about. There is some immersion of Greek mythology, which will keep me reading into the second book, which I already have and will be reading soon.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Old-fashioned detective thriller - with a bit too much boating!
Deceived: A Sam McClellan Tale - Laura S Wharton

Sam, a detective, finds himself investigating his partner’s murder and a lot more besides. Various characters, seedy or helpful, get involved and this reads like a nice old-fashioned detective novel (see Ross McDonald, etc..)

Because it takes place among North Carolina’s boating community, there’s a lot of description of various types of boat, lots of yachting detail and terminology which will mean nothing to the lay person i.e. me. Also, (another of my pet peeves), is the unnecessary amount of directions, on road or boat, which will mean nothing to anyone not local.

However I found the novel very engaging and enjoyed it a lot. Very good and recommended to fans of detective fiction.

REVIEW
This is a sexy, cute romcom.

Caldwell is into art, old homes, architeture and what opens the door to the home that he is there to bid on.

Daphne is into art, and fell inlove with the old home she got for next to nothing however it needs to be restored to it's original glory.
The man who has come to check things out is not bad on the eyes ..

These two have a great relationship going until...
Yep you have to read it and find out. I found that I laughed then snickered and then was shocked and in awe of this couple. Totally enjoyable story..

Review - Hunter Deceived (Wild Hunt #1) by Nancy Corrigan
Hunter Deceived - Nancy Corrigan
Great beginning to a new paranormal romance series! There's a little bit of everything - mythological and magical creatures, action, romance, sacrifice and heartbreak.  There is a lot going on, but it is not at all confusing. The end came way too quickly and it left me desperately waiting for the next book! The Huntsmen, one of which is a woman, are pretty bad ass and deserve happiness after everything they've had to endure. I recommend reading the prequel novella, Hunter Sacrificed to better understand how the Wild Hunt came to be and how it impacts Calan and Harley.

I received an ARC for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Hunter Deceived (Wild Hunt #1) by Nancy Corrigan
Hunter Deceived - Nancy Corrigan

Hunter Deceived by Nancy Corrigan is a fast-paced interesting story about Fae that takes place in a modern setting.  Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, has been imprisoned by Dar, the ruler of the Unseelie Court, and unable to protect the humans from their wrath. He needs the help of Dar’s half-breed daughter, Harley, to release him. He falls in love with her, and both will need to make sacrifices to save themselves and the world.

Nancy Corrigan does a great job with her character development.  I like Calan. He is a worthy leader. He is willing to make sacrifices, unfortunately it doesn’t always work out as he plans. He has a good heart and tries to do what is best for mankind and his family.  Harley has had a difficult life. Despite her father, she is a good person. I like that she is tough and has strong morals.  Raul is an attention-grabbing bad guy. I enjoyed that he was a redcap. He kept you guessing about his actions.

I like that the plot was based off of mythology.  The ending was fantastic and definitely left me wanting to continue reading the series. Nancy Corrigan’s Hunter Deceived is a strong foundation for the Wild Hunt Series.
