Devastation Road: A Novel - Jason Hewitt

This was a very interesting story about a man who apparently got amnesia and woke up in a field towards the end of WWII. This journey was a great read and one I really enjoyed.

The characters he finds along the way are VERY interesting. The first one, a boy, speaks no English and the second one has a baby she is willing for someone, anyone to take.

The ending when Owen starts to remember things is very good. The truth about his "friends" on the journey is sad and a total surprise.

Thanks to Little, Brown and Company and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Reading progress update: I've read 21% of The Fireman, by Joe Hill
The Fireman: A Novel - Joe Hill

The first 150 pages of The Fireman, which Net Galley was kind enough to provide, are enthralling!

A new spore, (read plague), has been discovered and it's been named Dragonscale, or 'scale, for short. It tattoos the skin with black marks which almost look like bruises, except they're threaded throughout with bits of gold. Once the 'scale is spotted on the body, it's only a matter of time before that person erupts into flame. With no cure and the population of the United States, (indeed, the world), flaming out in a big way, things are looking hopeless.

When the pregnant nurse Harper discovers she's infected, she does her best to take care of herself anyway. As a nurse, she knows the 'scale affects everyone differently, and that the disease does not transfer itself to the fetus. Unfortunately, her husband has to leave their home for fear of contracting the 'scale and he's none to happy about it.

I don't usually go into the plot this much in my reviews, but in one where I am limited to the first 150 pages, (of 768!), there's only so much non-plot related that I can say. I am SUPER EXCITED to find out what happens next! (Luckily Edelweiss provided an ARC of the entire story, so onward ho!)

You can pre-order your copy of The Fireman here: The Fireman

*Thanks go out to Net Galley and to the publisher for this free 150 page preview, which they provided in exchange for an honest review. This is it.*

Every Priest Gets His Day
Delicate Devastation - Rose Wynters

Delicate Devastation was a bit different from the other books in this series, because our love bugs have already met in a previous book, which is a twist. This time around our Priest Peter falls in love with Kim who's essentially a "man eater". After being forgotten and disrespected by her ex-husband, Kim has no respect for men and wants absolutely no relationships with them. Kim herself is a savvy real-estate agent with her own company, she's a smart gal with confidence. On the other hand you have Peter, he wants a soul mate, he wants to be with his one and only, but doesn't think he deserves one at first. Peter's the ultimate good guy with the heart of gold, the dudes made of kindness.

This book is a bit more gruesome than the rest and has a dash more of religious stuff going on because of Peter being a priest. However, I certainty wouldn't say it's over the top, its just part of the book. All this action takes place in New Orleans, your going to see our usual reoccurring cast of endurers mixed with some pretty nasty baddies!

I'd definitely recommend, this is 18+ due to sex scenes. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

So bad, but so sexy...
Transformers: Devastation - Simon Furman,E.J. Su,Nick Roche

I am confused.

But I really don't like the humans in this, and I really want more of RiD and MTMtE now -_-

However, since this is in the same continuity, I am reminded that in one of the last issues I read from IDW, lesbian Transformers are now canon.   Gay Transformers have been canon for a while now, but we also have lesbians.

So yay to that.
