Good Story and Characters
Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf (Lone Wolf Series Book 1) - Elisabeth Staab

Agent Sherri Walker had been betrayed by her ex boyfriend Ryan and had been demoted and transferred but she at least help put Ryan in prison. Now Sherri has two weeks of forced leave of absence to get her head straight before going back to work. When at the bar Sherri notices a biker come in and start trouble with the bartender then the biker comes to sit at Sherri’s table with some whiskey and apologizes for the interruption of her evening. Ash is a werewolf but he is no longer affiliated with a pack as he had a fight with his father about the illegal dealings of the pack. Ash is now a respectable business owner. Sherri decided to forget her rule dedicated life for a night and sleeps with Ash. Sherri is kidnapped by Ash’s former pack and he feels he has to help her or she will be sold as a slave.

I like this story a lot felt for Sherri though. She was definitely having a bad year. Thank goodness there was Ash. For a novella it told a complete story as far as I am concerned. Also thank  you for no cliffhangers. I like the characters the bad guys are really bad that is for sure it’s good to not like them at all. Also all the twists and turns Sherri goes through was amazing. And Ash also. I recommend.

I received  an ARC  of this story for an honest review.

Acts of Creation by Elisabeth Staab
Acts of Creation (Evergreen Grove Book 2) - Elisabeth Staab

Dante has created this mirage of who he is but cracks are started to show as his past demons rise. Dante was a tortured character who’s self-medicating of booze and fighting wasn't working anymore. The abuse he suffered from the hands of an adult who was entrusted with his care was painful to read about. The shame, self-doubt, guilt, and anger were exposed realistically and without a sense of sensationalism. Michelle's past was just as painful but felt somewhat glossed over at times. Rape and abuse seem to be very popular painful past experiences in the New Adult world and while Michelle's experience could have been ripped from the headlines, I felt like it was only added to her storyline so she could be shy and add angst. As I mentioned, the first half of our story deals more individually with Dante and Michelle, while the last half is having them learning how to come together. It made for a slower moving story but did make the romance more believable as our lead's relationship starting from a friends standpoint and growing to love. I liked this story because of Dante and Michelle's friendship and the author's willingness to show Dante's pain and reactions, whether right or wrong, to his abuse.

Reading Update: 40%
Acts of Creation (Evergreen Grove Book 2) - Elisabeth Staab

You don’t want people to know how bad it is, so you show a different face. Even me, in my baggy clothes and my long black hair, I do try to hide a little behind my grumpy, frumpy persona. Deep down, I’m kind of starving. I don’t want to risk putting myself in the position I did with Craig again, so I miss all the social things I used to love doing. I miss myself. I miss closeness with another human being. I miss being able to trust.
