MEMORY IN DEATH by J. D. Robb
Memory in Death - J.D. Robb

It's Christmas time and Eve's foster mother walks back into her life  with the intent to blackmail her and/or Roarke.  Instead she is murdered and now Eve must stand for her.  Eve lets it be known that she knew the victim so there will be no conflict of interest or questions.  She then has to go back to her past and other fosters' pasts to find the murderer.

I love this series.  Eve and Roarke fight but Eve learns what it means to have someone in her corner who will be there no matter what.  She learns to apologize also.  Good addition to the series.

ORIGIN IN DEATH by J. D. Robb
Origin in Death - J.D. Robb
A much lauded doctor is murdered and Eve gets the case. She uncovers more than murder and knows the doctor should not be lauded.

This was good. Eve has to deal with family. Roarke's family is coming from Ireland to partake of an American Thanksgiving dinner. Neither knows what to do but they will figure it out along with murder. There were several times I laughed out loud as Eve and Roarke try to navigate family and friends as family. I like how Eve is learning to handle her "family" so she doesn't hurt their feelings. I also like that she is learning to fight and forgive within that "family."

This is a good series that deals not only with the police work but the softening of Eve as she protects the city she cares about and the people she loves.

SURVIVOR IN DEATH by J. D. Robb
Survivor In Death - J.D. Robb
This one got to me. A family is murdered but their daughter survives because she disobeyed and got out of bed to go to the kitchen for a snack. I cried as I read the sections with Nixie. Watching Eve deal with a nine-year-old was fun but heart-wrenching. I did think it would end differently but
'twas not to be. Oh, Eve does get the bad guy. Probably the best of the series so far.

VISIONS IN DEATH by J. D. Robb
Visions in Death - J.D. Robb
A serial killer is lose in NYC and he takes the eyes of the women he has raped and killed. Eve gets the case and she finds other cases of missing persons that may be related. She also has a psychic who tells her she has visions of the murders. It gets more personal when Peabody is attacked.

I like this group of characters. Eve is having a hard time with all these friends and friends of friends but she is building a family from them. She is learning to care for them although it scares her, especially when Mavis asks her and Roarke to be the back up coaches for her baby's birth. Eve needs to be stronger than she is when Peabody is attacked and Eve has to deal with the personal costs as well as the job. I like Eve's vulnerability. I also like that Roarke can read her and know what is going on in her mind. I like how the two complement each other.

Can't wait to read the next one.

DIVIDED IN DEATH by J. D. Robb
Divided in Death - J.D. Robb
Homeland Security seemingly sets up Roarke's employee to take the fall for her husband's murder. Roarke asks Eve to step in to ensure the real murderer is caught.

I like that Eve has a growing family. I am amazed as I read how much Roarke's emotions are shown. I also like how Roarke can read Eve and understand her without her being able to verbally express herself. I have fun watching Eve try to deal with her insecurities of dealing with her "family" on an emotional level.

I love this series.
